The Claremore Girls Soccer team is making a statement early in the season, boasting a 3-1 record with dominant victories over Muskogee (5-0), Coweta (1-0), and McAlester (10-0). Their only loss came against 6A powerhouse Broken Arrow.
The offense has been firing on all cylinders, with multiple players finding the back of the net. To name a few, Abby Tietz led the charge against Muskogee with two goals, while Ava Rooney, Annie Payne, and Emma Easton added to the tally with goals of their own. In the 1-0 victory over Coweta, Addy Kelley secured the game-winner, assisted by Emily Klucevsek. Against McAlester, the attack exploded with Ava Rooney netting a hat trick, Annie Payne scoring three goals, and additional contributions from Keekee Bacon, Breckin Williams, Addy Kelley, and Nevaeh Johnson. Emma Easton, Alivia Payne, Addy Hamilton, and Abby Tietz provided key assists to keep the offense rolling.
On the defensive end, goalkeepers Ella Ramsey and Maise Stagner-Speer have been a wall, recording three shutouts in four games, anchoring a strong backline enforced by Pickle Wiseman, Johanne Kirkegaard, and Shayla Widener.
This year’s squad is determined to push further into the playoffs after last season’s heartbreaking semifinal loss to state champions Holland Hall. With leadership from captains Annie Payne, Pickle Wiseman, Abby Tietz, and Emma Easton, the team brings intensity and commitment to every practice and game.
