The Lady Zebras have started there season with a record of 8-4 but are just getting started. They have played some tough competition with playing some early 6a games and competing well. The team took a tough loss last Tuesday against Coweta but have a great opportunity to revenge that loss tonight.
After the loss to Coweta the team took a step back and hit the reset button. Then over the weekend played in the RSU festival, going 5-0 and dominating everyone in the process. I had a chance to get Coach Eddy's thoughts on the season up to this point and he had this to say about his team.
I asked coach Eddy "what has stood out about the season up to this point?" His response was "The thing that has stood out about this team is its versatility. Hitting for power, playing short game, and aggressiveness on the base paths when it’s called for has been our strength on offense. Our versatility on defense allows us to move players around to highlight strengths vs. what team we’re facing as well. Our depth in the lineup and in key positions has created some great opportunities for many to contribute."
Next was his answer to the question "who has shinned and stepped up?" His answer was "Our key offensive players so far have been led by (Lead-off) Halle Bucktrot. Halle is currently hitting .600 with an OBP of .611. She sets the tone offensively. The two Weaver sisters, Bella (Freshman) and Grace (Senior), provide a powerful combo with 28 hits between them (2-3 Hole). Newcomers Avery Hyde (Junior) and Sydnee Bass (Senior) lead the team with 2 HR’s a piece. Addison Reavis, (Sophomore) has been productive on the base path as well, leading us in stolen bases and tied for 2nd (G. Weaver) with runs scored (10). We also would not be where we are at without our one two punch that we have been putting in the circle. Junior Mae Foster and Freshman Lexie Morton have records of 4-2 and are only getting better."
The last question I asked Coach Eddy was "what are you most excited about as the year moves forward?" He simply stated "I am excited about the potential of this team. We have played well so far, but the ceiling for this group has yet to be seen. They are a lot of fun to coach, especially when we have those sparks of what is yet to come."
This is a great group of girls so if you had not had a chance to see them play you will have many opportunities in the near future. Here is there schedule just click on the link, pick a game, visit the concession on your way to your seat, and get ready for the show. https://5il.co/vzxf
