This year in softball came to an end in the regional finals in a 1-0 loss to Durant. Even though the season came up short of the state tourney, that does not mean it was not a success and a step in the right direction for the program.
This years team compiled 18 victories and were one hit away in most games of making the number in the upper 20's. This team worked vey hard all year and if you got to see them play as I did, you know they were a very entertaining group. You never knew what you were going to witness but there were always things you could count on. Mae Foster hustling at all times playing 2nd base and leading the drumline in the dugout. Jazz standing on the rubber taking signs from Coach Eddy, and firing a rise ball past yet another batter. Grace Weaver standing in the batters box, staring at the pitcher, practically daring her to throw her a strike so she could drive another ball into the gap for extra bases. Emoree Woody being a human wall behind the plate. Halle Bucktrot showing off the best hands and footwork at short stop as she made the hard plays look easy. Aubrey Pligrim coming up to bat late in the game and coming through for her team with a clutch hit. Lastly you were also guaranteed to see the freshman duo covering the entire outfield, tracking down everything that was in the air and never letting the ball hit the ground. That is just a few of the things that made this a great year for the team, and there were many other girls and things that made them worth the price of admission.
Congrats to the girls and the coaches on a great year. Also congrats to our all-district and all-district honorable mention award winners. I am already looking forward to next year.
