Have you used your editing glasses today?
Students in Mrs. Mercer's class are revising and editing their essays. Learning to look at an essay in two different ways is an important part of the writing process. When editing, writers use red pens, and when revising, they use blue pens. To change it up a bit, students decided to use red and blue EYE GLASSES! 👓 How fun!

In Mrs. Styers' classes, students are doing an equivalent ratio card sort. Two ratios that have the same value are called equivalent ratios. To find an equivalent ratio, you have to multiply or divide both quantities by the same number.

It's MAINTENANCE APPRECIATION DAY and our Maintenance Department is truly the BEST! We appreciate all they do to keep our school buildings in tip top shape! They do all things from keeping us warm, cool, and dry to stopping random branches from hitting us on our way in the building!
Thank you all! We appreciate each of you!

The Cyber-World can be a scary place!
WRJH had some great guest speakers! Special Agent Martin and Computer Forensic Analyst Meter, from Department of Homeland Security Investigations, visited our students to speak on the dangers of Cyber Space. They spoke about cyber bullying, online predators, and cyber security. Students were engaged and interested in what they were learning!
Thank you for your visit on this very important subject!

What does a student athlete do between sports? They CONDITION! 💪🏼
Athletic Conditioning (Athcon) is the class that our athletes attend in between their sport. This keeps the athlete maintaining their fitness while waiting on their next sport to start.
And it's a work out!

For Black History Month, Mrs. Hurt's class read the book Almost to Freedom by Vaunda Micheaux Nelson. Students enriched their vocabulary and used context clues from the text to determine the definition. We reviewed our learning targets while reading and discussing this book. Our review was over the plot diagram (characters, setting, problem, solution, resolution) , theme, point of view, genre, and character conflict.

What would you do differently if you could go back and retrace Lewis and Clark's journey? Students in Coach Dexter's History classes played a computer game version of Lewis and Clark's trail. They were able to see the decisions made and decide if they would do the same or change the way they explored!

How much should I tip?
Students in 7th grade Math classes are learning some great life lessons about how to order, tip, and total a restaurant tab while working on their percent unit. One of our essential standards is to be able to accurately add or subtract tax, tip, and discounts. We practiced this by using real menus and the teachers as waitresses. Students were able to create their own order. Then they were responsible to add tax and tip using percent!
