Sixteen of CPS Technology Student Association members are on their way to "Model The Way" at the National TSA Competition this week in Washington D.C.
Share with them our #CPSZEBRAPRIDE and give them a shout out below!

Our very own Mrs. LaRonna Hurt was selected to present at the TOSS (Teachers Of Successful Students) Conference hosted by Cherokee Nation. CPS is proud to have quality teachers that are setting the bar for other teachers.
Mrs. Hurt covered three crucial topics:
Enhancing Literacy Skills through Read Alouds - participants joined in a whole group story mapping lesson using book rich with robust vocabulary by Patricia Polacco. Ideas were modeled and shared on how to enjoy a beautiful picture book while enhancing students’ understanding of vocabulary, comprehension, figurative, language, character traits and types, plot structures, and many more literacy skills.
STEM? But, I teach Reading! - Many critical skills used for growing strong readers and writers are also core skills in the study of science, technology, engineering, and math. This workshop focused on showing how educators can enhance reading through STEM lessons, activities, and non-fiction text. By integrating literacy and STEM, children can become strong readers while exploring topics that may pique their interest in STEM.
Reading Enhancement through Technology - Participants will learn how to meet students in the 21st century by promoting technology while exploring various free websites that enhance reading skills and development. These websites allow students to grow their reading through critical thinking and not utilizing technology as an online worksheet.
Mrs. Hurt uses these techniques and strategies in her classroom at Will Rogers Junior High.
