This activity can help students appreciate the diversity of cultures, histories, and perspectives of Latin America, and learn the value of working together to have a broader understanding of the world around them! 8th Grade Parents... Mark Your Calendars: Promotion Ceremony at Robson PAC on May 21st, 2024 at 5:30pm! Important Info. for this event► •Students will be sent home with RSVP permission slips tomorrow, Thursday, 4/18. These will need to be returned by MAY 7th to reserve their TWO COMPLIMENTARY tickets. ‼Failure to RSVP will result in LOSING their TWO complimentary tickets‼ •May 13th-extra tickets will be available in the office of WRJH for $10 each. These tickets will be FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE until we hit capacity at the PAC and will no longer have tickets available. Mrs. Hammack's class made magic rubber eggs! They learned about chemical reactions that change properties of matter. They used food dye to add colors to vinegar and left the eggs for three days in it. The shell dissolved and left a beautiful bouncy raw egg! How cool is that lesson?! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Rahn’s STEM students ventured into spying & espionage studying cyber security. Students learned Morse code and built a circuit device to send messages across the room to one another. They also built an enigma machine to code and de-code messages. Professions in Cyber Security are in very high demand and students learned about the many career areas in this field. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Students in Mrs. Newbury's classes have spent the last few weeks learning about genetics and how different traits get passed from one generation to another. To show mastery, students had to combine chromosomal traits and decode what their "spud buddy" would look like. They then were tasked with building their spud according to those genes. Hands-on projects like these make learning more effective, and it helps students to build a strong foundation in scientific concepts. Good job to Mrs. Newbury and her students involved in this innovative and engaging lesson! HOW CREATIVE! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The WRJH and CHS Navy JROTC Corps of Cadets recently showcased their dedication, teamwork, and excellence at the Bomber Invitational competition held in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Months of rigorous preparation and fostering camaraderie among our cadets culminated in an outstanding performance, leaving a mark of achievement across various events. Competing against formidable teams from both Arkansas and Oklahoma, our cadets demonstrated exceptional prowess across a spectrum of disciplines including marksmanship, drone operation, unarmed drill, academic brain brawl, STEM, Color Guard, and athletic fitness. Students from Dr. Young and Ms. Fudge’s classes are debating about hot topics in todays society in preparation for writing argumentative essays. By doing these debates, students are learning to think critically, develop their communication skills, and explore different opinions on important issues. These types of exercises are an integral part of their preparation for writing argumentative essays- and preparing them for state testing. It helps students form well-reasoned arguments and understand the importance of supporting their claims with evidence. And it's always fun to argue and debate each other! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

It was a real "whodunnit" in our 8th grade English classes! English teachers developed an engaging and interactive approach to teaching argumentative writing by doing a murder mystery activity. For this activity, the students learn how to make a claim, use reasons to support the claim, and support the reasons with evidence by analyzing information, evaluating evidence, and formulating claims based on their findings. They become true detectives! So the question remains... who did it? 🕵🏼‍♀️ #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

⚾BASEBALL SEASON⚾ is in full swing 🏏and the players are not only performing well but also having a great time on the field! Sports, especially team sports like baseball, can be an excellent way for students to develop discipline, teamwork, and physical fitness. And it's FUN! Mrs. Hammack's class makes math EGG-stra fun!🥚 Eggs were filled with math problems and the the class were divided into teams. They had a relay race to see which team could solve the most problems. They exercised their muscles and brain! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We got to watch the Solar Eclipse! 🌘 Our students were in awe of watching this phenomenon! Watching a solar eclipse is truly awe-inspiring, and how cool that our students got to witness this astronomical event! Being able to observe the beauty and power of nature can be both humbling and educational. Plus, a little fresh air and sunshine is always a good thing! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Zebra Families, At Claremore Public Schools (CPS), we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students above all else. We take all potential threats seriously and investigate them thoroughly. Today, a screen capture of a Snapchat photo of a possible threat was reported at WRJH. The administration immediately notified the Claremore Police Department (CPD) concerning a social media post. We are relieved to report that the CPD found no evidence of a threat toward our school. Nevertheless, in an abundance of caution, the CPD will increase its presence on our campus and provide additional security at WRJH to help give our families peace of mind. We want to reassure our students, families, and community that we will continue doing everything possible to maintain a safe learning environment for all. Thank you to the Claremore Police Department for their swift actions. We also want to encourage everyone to take personal responsibility for their safety and the safety of others. If you hear or see anything that could threaten our students' safety, please report it immediately through the appropriate channels. We have a See Something Say Something initiative through our Stop-It App and encourage everyone to use it.

Welcome to WILL ROGERS JUNIOR HIGH! What exciting mornings! Elementary students from Catalayah, Claremont, Roosa and Westside were welcomed in by our CHS band and the welcoming committee! The students learned all about life at WRJH, toured the 6th grade wing, and even got to join in on the Zebra Fight Song with the Claremore Zebra!
