This is the week that the Nation celebrates READING! Read Across America Week 2022 has kicked off at Roosa Elementary. Today’s dress up day was Career Day! All week long students will have dress up days and activities to encourage reading. Mrs. Armbrister - 1st grade teacher - #ROOSASTAFFSPOTLIGHT I have been at Roosa for five years. I graduated from Adair High School in 2004. I have my Elementary Education degree through Cameron University. My first year I was a Kindergarten para for two of my amazing co workers, Mrs. Riggs and Mrs. Rumsey. I taught Kindergarten for two years and went to first grade last year and this year too. I have been married to my best friend, Rob, for almost 15 years. We have two kids Hannah who is ten and Asa who is eight. Our pets include Ammo, our toy poodle mix, and our two cats Remy and Russell. I enjoy teaching the younger grades because each day is a new adventure! I love their toothless smiles, stories, and sweet notes they leave for me on my desk. I feel truly blessed to work with some amazing ladies and gents here at Roosa. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Cardwell’s 2nd grade WIN group worked with our Innovation Lab’s brand new Kids K’nex Transportation kits. This project was a fun and engaging way for students to work collaboratively on communication and teamwork while developing a cognizance behind the principles of mechanics and structures, creativity, innovation, engineering, and design. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Glenda Bacon - 4th grade teacher - #ROOSASTAFFSPOTLIGHT - I graduated from Claremore High School and earned my Elementary Education degree from NSU. I was married for 36 years, I am now a widow. I have three adult children, also Claremore graduates. I have three grandchildren, two attend Claremore Junior High and one attends Roosa. Go Zebras!! I believe all students can learn and be successful if they choose to in the classroom or online. I also believe as an educator teaching and learning are not one size fits all, we must constantly monitor the learning and adjust the teaching. After 20 years in the classroom, I still love that "teachable moment". #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

1st grade does math the fun way by measuring using non standard measurements tools. They used unifix cubes to measure the rug, doorway and desk. Then recorded their findings and compared the sizes of the objects. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Mann’s 2nd grade class researched an animal. They wrote a rough draft, finalized it to perfection. Then added illustrations and their class book was published!! The hard work that goes into writing this book is amazing but the pride in reading it is unmeasurable!! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

1st grade finished the Unit on Love Monster. Rachel Bright wrote the book series Love Monster. This book is about a hairy monster searching for love. 1st grade read a different Love Monster book each day. Everyday had fun activities too, including Valentine Bingo, a Writing Activity, decorated love monster cookies and decorated a love monster bag. Hearts of love for Love Monster were all around the classroom! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Students all over Roosa did learning activities to match the day of red hearts and love. Students showed off their creativity in art, math, science and handwriting with the red heart theme. Roosa Elementary would like to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Want to race? Math style? 4th grade math class has been working on dividing three digit numbers. Mrs. Howard raced with students to see who could solve the math problems the fastest! The race was on! Beware! The Math Wizard Mrs. Howard solves her problems fast! The Math Champions of 4th grade were ready with their dry erase boards and sharp math skills! Fun with Math in 4th grade! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
