School Counselor

Mrs. Tara Kerr

Hello! I am so happy to be in Claremore and especially to be part of the Roosa Family! My first school counseling job was at Claremore High School from 2007-2011 and it is so great to be a Zebra again!

I received my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Social Studies) and my Master of Science in Counseling from Oklahoma State University. I previously served as a school counselor to students of all ages at Claremore High School (OK), Stony Point High School in Round Rock (TX), Perry Elementary School (OK), Perry High School (OK), and Meridian Technology Center in Stillwater (OK).

I served on the OK State Department of Education's writing committee for the OK School Counseling Plan, which was published in 2021. I also served on the OK State Superintendent's School Counselor Advisory Council and was an Oklahoma School Counselor Association board member from 2017-2020.

I am married to Josh, the pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Claremore. We have one son, Kellan, a Will Rogers Jr. High student.

School Based Social Worker (SBSW)

Mrs. Courtney Burnshire

I graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelors in Psychology. I'm about halfway done with my Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Oklahoma. I started working for DHS in 2011 as a Child Support Enforcement Specialist. After that, I worked in Child Welfare for 7 years before moving to School-Based in 2020. Being a school social worker is my dream job and I absolutely love working in Claremore. This District as a whole really cares about the families of our students. That makes my job wonderful because I always feel supported in the things I need to do to help our families.

Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help and brave enough to ask for it - Unknown
