Meet our Principal
Mrs. Chrissy Willard
I grew up in St. Louis, Mo. I am one of five kids and grew up with sports being a huge part of my life. As a child, I played soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball, dance (it was short lived which is evident in my current skills), and track and field. I received a college scholarship to play volleyball in college and was an Academic All-American.
It was in college that I met my husband who was also very involved in sports and was an All-American wrestler. Chad and I married a few years after graduating college in 2009. After college, I worked in college admissions and even became a head college volleyball coach and my husband Chad was a teacher and assistant college wrestling coach. We became parents in 2013 when we had Alivia. She is by far the best thing that has ever happened to me. When we had Alivia, we decided to move closer to Chad's parents who live in Collinsville, so to Oklahoma we went :-)
It was important to Chad and I that we found a district for both of us to work in and a community that we wanted to raise Alivia and be heavily involved in. We were looking for more of a family than just a job. Claremore checked all the boxes and felt like it was where we were meant to be. I began working as the school counselor at Roosa Elementary in 2013 and Chad taught at the high school and became the head wrestling coach. In the fall of 2017 I fully transitioned into my current position as principal of Roosa Elementary.
Chad, Livy, and I now live outside of Claremore on 10 acres. We love being outside, riding 4-wheelers, fishing, going to the lake, and just hanging out with our friends. We are very involved in our church, Cedar Point. We love being a part of such an amazing community here in Claremore. I love going to watch my husband coach football and wrestling, and now I get to be the crazy sports mom too. Livy has now played two years of baseball and has started wrestling this year. I love coming to work every day to see all my students. I love giving hugs and seeing their faces light up. For me being a principal means I have been blessed with the opportunity to impact hundreds of kids every day, and usually they end up making a bigger impact on me.
