Guess what time it is?!? It's RAFFLE TIME!!!!! We're coming up to our annual Roosa Carnival, which means the tickets are hot off the press and ready for students to SELL, SELL, SELL!!! The raffle prizes available this year are a $250 walmart card, a $250 amazon card, a Blackstone griddle, or a 14' trampoline! And that's not all! Our sellers have a chance to win some pretty great swag, too! 🔴 The wheel of WOW makes its return: the 2 top sellers from Tuesday-Thursday each week, upper and lower grades, get to spin the wheel in front of the whole school at rise and shine! ⚪️ We're aiming to at least MATCH our goal from last year - $14,000! Many of the worlds' most famous authors got their starts because of parents and teachers just like you who cheered them along their imaginative path. Roosa students spent a large part of their day Monday learning everything possible about the impending eclipse. Many classes created eclipse inspired art, studied the delicious phases of the moon, and some even acted out how the sun, moon and Earth work together to create the eclipse! Fourth and Fifth had a chance to go out before the sun was totally covered so they could discuss the changes they noticed. On top of the shrinking of the sun, many pointed out the cooler temperatures they felt and the quieting of the birds. They are able to encourage the youngest of learners to love reading , while educating everyone from small to tall on the myriad of resources the library has to offer. Whether helping to find that one book. . .you know, the one that tells the story of a boy. . . that said a thing. . .and maybe has a talking dog. . .oh! and it might be blue, to teaching how best to read an atlas, to guiding students to the section of nonfiction to find a book all about zebras - 599, for those that are curious - librarians have a seemingly endless supply of knowledge and love to share it with their students! The annual Future Chef competition recently took place at Catalayah. Elementary students were invited to submit their favorite recipes, and Elianna jumped and the chance to participate. After making huevos rancheros para ninos, she walked away with a bronze and as a district finalist! 🥉🍳 Although this is only the second year Elianna has participated in the competition, she can't remember a time that she wasn't helping out in the kitchen and learning how to whip up her own masterpieces.
