Mrs. Gonzalez's Spanish II classes learned to play Canasta, which is a card game that was invented in the 1940s by two businessmen, one from Argentina and one from Uruguay. The game has teams of 2 trying to make sets, "canastas," of 7 cards. Students have to first learn the rules of play, make strategic plays with their partner, and calculate score each round. The winner is the first pair to 5,000 points.
