Dictionary Wars... have you played? Dr. Young sure knows how to turn studying into a fun, competitive game. It's like a spelling bee meets Scrabble, but with dictionaries as the secret weapon!
Dictionary Wars is definitely a more engaging and memorable way to learn how to use a dictionary than your standard, run-of-the-mill classroom lessons. I mean, who doesn't love a little friendly competition, especially when it involves expanding your vocabulary and getting rewarded with some candy?!

Our NJROTC junior high and high school drone teams had a great day of competition at Western Heights High School in OKC. We are super proud of the performance, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The team won a lot and learned more. And we had TWO WRJH NJROTC students competing with the High School! Way to go, team! We are proud of you!

Wow, what a powerful and poignant way to bring a book to life! 🏃♀️🌊 After reading "A Long Walk to Water," a book about a Sudanese refugee's journey to safety, our 7th grade students got the chance to experience a small taste of what that journey might have been like. Carrying water while walking on a track might seem like a simple thing, but when you consider how far some people have to travel to get clean water, it becomes a powerful lesson in empathy and gratitude. Plus, it gives students a chance to reflect on their own privileges and the resources that many of us take for granted every day. So not only did these English classes get to enjoy a little bit of exercise, but they also got to learn a valuable lesson about the human experience. That's some powerful learning right there!

The sweet taste of success!😋 Students in Mrs. Fudge's class were rewarded for reaching their goal on the MAP tests. It's always good to reward students for reaching academic goals, and what better way than with ice cream sandwiches on a beautiful, sunny day? Not only does it give them something to strive for, it teaches them that hard work pays off!

Teamwork makes the dream work! Students in Dr. Young’s class were grouped into teams to help determine what information was missing while discerning which information was more important. The information that was determined to be “important” was placed on the walls and will be accessible for quick reference guides for their upcoming compare and contrast essays!
Wow! What a brilliant way to encourage teamwork and critical thinking in the classroom!

Do you know the difference between street art and graffiti? Officer Holmes explains to our art students about the differences. Graffiti is not authorized markings done without permission. Street art is something done to make an outside area look more desirable.

Mrs. Steffey's classes created "biomes in a box"! Each group of students created their own miniature biome, complete with landscapes, plants, and animals that you would find in that environment.
What a great way to learn about the different ecosystems around the world! And who knows, maybe some of them will be inspired to become future biologists or conservationists after working on this project!

Valentine's Day is all about spreading the love and appreciation, and so is Kindness Week! As a little "thank you" for all the hard work teachers and staff do, our amazing counselors went out of their way to show that appreciation by giving everyone sweet treats. These little gestures can make all the difference in someone's day. It goes to show that kindness is always in style, no matter what day it is! ♥

It's School Resource Officer Day! Today is all about honoring those brave individuals who serve as the link between our schools and law enforcement. They are not just here to keep our students safe- they're also mentors, confidants, and role models for our students, helping to foster positive relationships between the youth and our police department.
Thank you to our very own Officer Holmes at WRJH and Officer Hagen and Officer Turman at our other schools. We appreciate you!

What's a really clever way to spread some positivity and self-love in school? It's like the opposite of "heartbreak" - the students are searching for hearts and filling them with positivity and encouragement! And what better place to display these hearts than on the walls of the school itself? It's like a visual reminder that they're surrounded by love and support, even on the toughest of days. Plus, having the students write their own positive affirmations on the hearts helps to reinforce the message and make it more personal. It's a great way to boost self-esteem and build a sense of community in the classroom. Great job to our counselors and the mentor group for coming up with this idea - it's a thoughtful and creative way to spread some heart-warming cheer!
