Mrs. Williams class is working on a unit about the earth’s orbit and how this relates to leap year. They made a sundial as a reinforcement activity demonstrating that the earth is continuously turning on its axis. What a fun and interactive way to learn about the earth's orbit and leap year! Making a sundial is a great hands-on activity that helps students understand the concept of the earth's rotation on its axis and how it relates to the passage of time. It's also a creative way to demonstrate the practical applications of science and math in the real world!
And it's lots of fun!

March is Music in our Schools Month! 🎶 This month is a great time to celebrate the importance of music education in schools. Music can have such a positive impact on students' development, from boosting creativity and self-expression to improving focus and teamwork! The purpose of MIOSM is to raise awareness of the importance of music education for all children – and to remind citizens that school is where all children should have access to music.
We will celebrate music all month long with photos and videos of our fabulous band and choir students showcasing their amazing talent!

For Read Across America week, our art students drew the Cat in the Hat! That sounds like a fun and creative way to celebrate Read Across America Week! Dr. Seuss's "The Cat in the Hat" is such a classic children's book, and it's great to see students using their artistic skills to bring the story to life.

In Mrs. Fudge's class, students learned about how nature is a popular theme in poetry. They went outside and wrote haikus and tankas about nature.
That sounds like a lovely way to spend the day! Both haikus and tankas are short forms of poetry that originated in Japan and often focus on nature themes.

Mrs. Hammack's class is getting a real life science lesson! They are examining owl pellets and matching bones to the animals they came from. It takes patience, attention to detail and critical thinking to piece together the puzzle- but how rewarding when they figure it out! This is one science experience the students won't likely forget!

It's School Social Worker Week and we are so happy to have Mrs. Jones here to help the needs of our students! Social workers often work behind the scenes, and it's great to see her working with our students.

It's National School Breakfast Week 🥣 And the best way to start the day is a nutritional breakfast-especially for growing kids! Thanks to our wonderful cafeteria workers, students are able to do just that!

Another Teamwork Tuesday is in the books! Our mentoring groups are a great way for students to get to know other students and to see older students mentoring and playing games with younger students. Not only does it promote a sense of community within the school, but it also helps foster leadership skills and empathy in the older students while providing guidance and support to the younger ones. And who doesn't like a J' Farley's burger?! 😊

Who said studying can't be fun? Ms. Prine's class is definitely thinking outside the box by using a board game to help review the material from "The Outsiders" book. Board games are a great way to make learning interactive and engaging, and way more fun than just reading notes!

Students in Mrs. Boyd's class are learning about air pressure. Minute to Win It games are always a blast, and using marshmallows and straws to demonstrate air pressure is such a clever idea. But beyond the fun factor, this game is actually a great way to understand how air pressure works in a practical, hands-on way. The students are learning how air pressure can be used to hold the marshmallows in place on the straws, and how changing the pressure can affect the marshmallow's position.
So not only are the students having a blast playing this game, but they're also learning about physics, problem-solving, and teamwork. It's like a science lesson disguised as a party game, and the students are having a marshmallow-filled blast.
