We had our February GE Assembly yesterday, and as a junior high trying to achieve Great Expectations Model School status, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our monthly Great Expectations assembly. Our assemblies are a cross between an elementary rise and shine and a high school pep assembly. The GE assembly committee invited high school STUCO students to come over and assist in our assembly this month. They took on this project by leading a game, talking to the students about being involved, and they helped each grade level show more participation, including inviting teachers to play the game. Students loved watching the teachers! Let's hope they have recovered today! Thanks for being such great sports Mr. Knoke, Mr. Rogers, Mrs. James and Ms. Lohmann! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Forces are interactions between objects - a push or pull. When an object is pushed against the force of one of these fields, the object gains potential energy. Mrs. Worley's Science classes are using what they know of forces and energy to make cars to survive a jousting tournament. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Ms. Cox's Geography students have been researching oil pollution in the Niger River Delta.  The Niger Delta is the delta of the Niger River sitting directly on the Gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean in Nigeria. The Delta is home to most of Nigeria’s oil industry and now has extremely high pollution due to oil spills. Students worked in groups to find evidence regarding who is responsible for the oil spills. Many students argued that the Shell Petroleum Corporation is responsible, but others argued that the Nigerian government should take more responsibility. The students created posters of their findings and presented them to 6th grade geography students.   #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Claremore hosted a TSA conference this weekend. We had over 400 students compete at the TSA conference. Claremore students competed well! We also had a VEX tournament last weekend. TSA and Robotics students worked on both events. They stayed late and came in early for the last three weeks getting ready for these tournaments. They made trophies, printed judges packets, setup fields, and helped organize and run both conferences. The students put in so much extra time and effort and worked very hard. The community support was unbelievable as well. Not only did parents, advisors, and teachers contribute their time, but former students and members of the community as well as people from surrounding communities came to help. Mr. Isenbart can’t thank everyone enough for all the support that has been given to the Claremore TSA and Robotics programs. You guys are amazing! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

WRJH Girls in STEM Club participated in the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance's Women in STEM event. The girls entered a shoe challenge to design a versatile woman's shoe appropriate for a corporate and manufacturing setting. One of our teams took 1st place in the safest shoe design! These young women also participated in breakout sessions which included a science experiment, using robotics, inquiry-based math and an engineering challenge. Dr. Kayse Shrum, Oklahoma Secretary of Science was the keynote speaker and she encouraged the girls to "Be the Best Version of Yourself" and to "Dream Big and Live with Purpose". Thank you Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance for this amazing and inspirational opportunity! Wendee Henry of Claremore was also honored as a Woman of STEM and was a guest at our table! #WomeninSTEM #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
