The first week of school was filled with inside recess due to the unsafe temperatures outside! 1st grade teachers and students made the best of it with "wing recess," where students had the chance to play with toys and manipulatives that are reserved for those unsafe weather days! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

At the beginning of the year, specials teachers come together to develop intentional interactions between students that will help our new to Claremont students feel welcome. The activities range from STEM building to playing games, and students have a blast! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Kindergarten students love read-aloud time! Reading aloud has so many benefits! Reading aloud helps to create a classroom community, gives students an opportunity to hear their teacher model fluency and expression, and helps students learn how to use language and make sense of the world. 5th grade students persevered in their task to save Fred! To do this, they worked in teams to get a life preserver onto Fred the worm, then put him and a paddle into the boat touching nothing but a paper clip each. Great teamwork, 5th graders! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

ALL Elementary students get in FREE at the first annual CHS Volleyball Elementary Night! Our NUMBER TWO ranked Zebras are taking on Oologah! Each student will be able to meet Coach Jackson prior to the Varsity match, be on the court while they introduce the players and shake each players hand before they begin the match. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

CPS will be closed on Monday, September 4th, in honor of the Labor Day holiday. Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers.  It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.  This weekend, as we spend time with our families and friends, celebrate the value of an honest day’s work, the people who built America, and our nation’s advancements because of the American labor force.  #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Howell's 2nd graders had a big day for beginning to build class culture! ❇️Chain Challenge - Each child is an important “link” in our class chain. Every student matters. 💯 They were given 1 construction paper and 12” of tape. The challenge was to make the longest chain. It’s so fun to witness all their different ideas. ❇️All About Me bags were presented! ❇️Of course, they ended the day finding our Rock, Paper, Scissors Champ and eating popsicles! What a fun day in 2nd grade! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

At Claremont, we know how important it is that our students are greeted with love and kindness each and every day! Greeting each other is so ingrained in our culture, that every teacher greets every student at their door before coming into the classroom. Claremont Elementary holds a special in my heart. During my final year of college at OSU I was placed at Claremont to complete my student teaching. During that experience I got to learn from and work with Mrs. Ward in first grade. The first grade teachers were so supportive and welcoming along with the students. I learned so much from my time there. I knew I wanted to work at Claremont after I graduated because I had such a positive experience with all of the staff and students during student teaching. "What are you most excited about in the upcoming year?" I’m excited to meet my students and create a positive learning environment with them! My grandfather and my great aunt actually attended Claremont when they first moved to Claremore in the 1940’s. My papa was in 3rd grade and my aunt was in 2nd. ‼ REMINDER - EARLY RELEASE = PLC MEETINGS FOR TEACHERS 📅 Begins August 25th Dismissal 🕑Elementary- 2:00p 🕝Secondary - 2:30p Early release for our kids means meeting time for our teachers. This time is excellent for lesson planning, district meetings, and sharing ideas with our teacher friends across the district. Professional learning communities (PLCs) are a collaborative approach to professional development. Small groups of educators meet regularly to explore new concepts, share expertise and insights from their teaching experiences, and engage in collective problem-solving. We are lucky we have this time and the technology to meet with teachers from all over the district to maximize our time together. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
