Mrs. Miles' 3rd-5th grade GT students had fun applying what they learned about oil derricks, from an OERB video, and putting it to the test by creating their own derricks. They could only use straws, paper clips, and tape, that they had to 'purchase' using future profits. Then each tower was assessed to see how much weight it could hold in grams. The challenge was to see which groups' oil derrick turned the most profit, after the costs of supplies.
Here you can see the 3rd/4th grade groups and their derricks.

We can't say enough good things about our two very special Administrative Professionals, Mrs. Goodwin and Mrs. Howard.
Mrs. Goodwin keeps all of our financials in line, and is an amazing asset to Claremont. She is kind and considerate, and we are so thankful for her!
Mrs. Howard greets students, parents, and anyone else who walks through our front office! Her bright smile and positive attitude are some of what makes her such a valuable part of our team. We are so grateful to have Mrs. Howard at Claremont.
Happy Administrative Professionals Day, ladies!

Kindergarten students spend much of their time in computer class learning skills that will enable them to be prepared for future computer use. Learning to use a mouse, a keyboard, and even be able to navigate on a computer are things that are taught, not caught!

Did you know??
Children struggle with positive self-esteem and body-image much like adults do.
Here are some suggestions to give your child if he or she is struggling in this area:
-Spend time with people who treat you well and help you feel good about yourself.
-Use positive self- talk, such as “I am strong, self-confident, and capable.”
-Keep a journal to help you see what areas in your life need attention.
-Celebrate what you like about yourself and work on changing things that you don’t like as much.
-Remind yourself that you are unique, special, valued and important.
-Get out and participate in activities with your family and friends.
-Eat foods that are good for you and make you feel great, such as lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and healthful fats such as from nuts, avocados and olive oil.
-Be active at least 60 minutes each day.
-Talk with a trusted family member or friend if you are feeling low.
-Treat others with the kindness and respect that all unique individuals deserve.
