It’s National School Counselors Week! We have 3 amazing counselors here at CHS. Today we will introduce you, Cindy Vanaman, the Claremore High School Freshmen and Sophomore Counselor since 2014. She enjoys helping kids realize their potential and reach their goals. Forming relationships with students and watching them succeed at something they may not have thought they could do fuels her passion for her job here at CPS. Before coming to CHS worked as a counselor at a wilderness camp for emotionally disturbed adolescent boys in South Florida for 2 years. Then spent 16 years working for DHS in Child Welfare, followed by 6 years as a Program Director for Volunteers for Youth. She still serves on their Board of Directors. She married a CHS graduate and raised their 3 children in the CPS system. All three have kept her on the sidelines and in the stands of Zebra sporting events. When she gets free time, she loves to read and make memories with her family. She received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Oklahoma and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the State University of NY. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Kari Forest the Junior Counselor/Test Coordinator at Claremore High School. When asked what she loved about working at Claremore, she told us, “Good people and good students!” She went into teaching because she enjoyed learning and wanted to share that with others. She likes to see people succeed and become more than they thought they could. She loves CPS because it’s a good fit for her; not too big, not too small, just right? She began her teaching career in 1980 and came to CPS in 2001. She taught Band for 21 years before coming to Claremore to be a principal and now a counselor. She has been an active volunteer for Volunteers for Youth and a member of CCOSA. She loves gardening and shopping and her beloved St. Louis Cardinals! She received her Masters in Education from NSU and her Bachelors in Music Education from SWOSU. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

It’s National School Counselors Week! We have 3 amazing counselors here at CHS. Today we will introduce you Debbie Grace, the Claremore High School Senior Counselor. She loves the relationships that she develops with the students and staff as a member of the Zebra family. Although she doesn’t have a “classroom”, she thrives in helping students get to graduation and prepare for their future. She has been at CHS since 2013. At CPS, she serves on the Title 6 (JOM) committee, Teacher of the Year nomination committee and coordinates the annual Mr. Claremore fundraiser for the CHS counseling department. Previously she was a Child Welfare supervisor with the Department of Human Services and an original board member for the William W Barnes Children’s Advocacy Center. School counselors are highly educated, professionally certified individuals who help students succeed in school and plan their careers. An integral part of the total education system, school counselors help students form healthy goals, mindsets, and behaviors. With the aid of a school counselor, students learn to develop effective collaboration and cooperation skills, practice perseverance, develop time management and study skills, and learn self-motivation and self-direction habits. We have three counselors and a secretary, the department's heartbeat, that serve our students and staff at CHS. Each day we will post a feature about them individually. We encourage you to go by their office, send them a note, or comment on our FB page a message thanking them. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

What an outstanding award for our program, school, and community. Countless hours of blood, sweat, and tears by coaches, players, parents, and many members from our great city recognized by the National High School Baseball Coaches Association. Legendary Legion Field was named as one of the top high school fields in the nation. This award is for anyone who has ever held a rake or paintbrush, pulled the tarp, flew their helicopter over the field to dry it 🤷‍♂️, or donated their time and/or money! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

A picture is worth a thousand words. We hear it all the time. It can be especially helpful when communicating in our digital world to show a picture of something rather than typing it out. Or, maybe there is a certain point to be made by saving a portion of what is on the computer screen. Using the Windows Snip & Sketch application will help accomplish that. This #TechTipTuesday will demonstrate the many ways Microsoft’s Snip & Sketch can be used to capture images of what is on a computer screen and shared, posted, or saved for later reference. https://youtu.be/PZ_F60PbNPw
