8th graders in Dr. Young's English classes enjoyed hot cocoa while reading The Outsiders on their first days back from Thanksgiving break. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

In Mrs. Dooley's class, students studied all about rock formations. They used sugar cubes to show how the effects of weathering can completely change the earth's rocks and how they form. They even got some help from our Great Expectations Coach, Mrs. Early! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The WRJH ❄ WINTER ❄ DANCE will be Friday, Dec. 15th! 6th grade will dance from 6pm-7:30pm 7th & 8th graders will dance from 7:45pm-9:15pm TICKETS will be sold during LUNCHES every Monday, Wednesday and Friday of December- starting this Friday. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the night of the dance. Students may wear Christmas PJ's, ugly Christmas sweaters OR fancy dress. Dress codes WILL BE ENFORCED. Have you ever studied the formation of metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary rocks? Students in Mrs. Simmonds' class learned all about rock formations by using airheads. This really helped them to learn about types of rocks and how they are formed! And they were fun to build things with! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

In Mrs. Highley's English classes, students are reading the book "The Outsiders". The classic is a favorite amongst teachers and students alike! They will be going over the book and ending the unit with a dress up day - dressing like their favorite character from the book! We can't wait to see those outfits! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Does your student need a little extra help with their school work? If so, after school tutoring begins tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 3:30pm-4:20pm. We will have tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday. Students do not have to sign up - they just need to show up! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Esau's class had the opportunity to visit the Will Rogers Birthplace in Oologah. They had a wonderfully informative tour from Mr. Keith Austin from the Cherokee Nation. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Williams class celebrated Native American Heritage Month by making Native American talking sticks. They learned that the talking stick is a tool of indigenous democracy used my many tribes in North America. The talking stick is passed around the group and allows for multiple people to speak in turn. What a fun lesson! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

What is an archeologist? Someone who looks for human activity from the past. They not only look for human remains, they look for tools and paintings to see how people lived many years ago. Kathleen Kelly, an archeologist with Osage Nation, spoke to the 6th grade students about her job and showed off some really neat artifacts. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Wind, water and waves- what do they have to do with each other? They are the reason for weathering, deposition and erosion! Ms. Dooley's classes are studying signs of this around the school. Weathering is the breaking down or dissolving of rocks and minerals on the Earth's surface, erosion is the transportation or the movement of the weathered material and deposition is the dropping of off the weathered material. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The 7th grade field trip to Tulsa Community College was a big hit! Students got to tour campus, meet faculty, and see what a day in the life of a college student is like! Thank you to our counselors and especially TCC! We have some future TCC students here, I'm sure! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Students in Ms. Steffey's Science class built jousting cars to show gravitational potential and kinetic energy. Students applied STEM skills to design and build prototypes. They competed in a jousting tournament to test design variations. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Everyone has heard of a Pet Detective, but have you heard of a Rock Detective? Sixth graders in Mrs. Boyd's class are learning about the 3 types of rocks. To help gain a better understanding, they are becoming Rock Detectives. Students are using dichotomous keys and rock samples to determine which type of rock broke the Science classroom window! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Who likes roller coasters?! 🎢 Students in Mrs. Rahn's class worked through the engineering design process by building, testing, and redesigning their roller coasters. These are a few of our winning rollercoasters! How FUN! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Our 7th graders were treated to an amazing performance by an amazing guest! We had a Wichita War Dancer from the Ponca Tribe, Ponca City and Arizona area. He is a Native Performer preserving tribal culture through the War Dance. Our Native American Club were also guests at the performance, along with 2nd graders from our elementary schools. He did a great job! Everyone loved it! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

On National STEM Day, our classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn teamwork, problem solving and communication skills. Mrs. Rahn’s 6th grade robotic students are working really hard on building and coding their robots! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
