Roosa Families, The American Heart Association visited our school today to kick off Kids Heart Challenge (formerly Jump Rope for Heart)! Ask your child if they were on TEAM HEART or TEAM HERO cheering on a team of heart heroes learning how easy and FUN it can be to take care of our hearts! Our students will be learning all about heart disease, exercise, and healthy eating over the next 2 weeks, and on 2/28/2020 we will have our Kids Heart Challenge event! We hope you will join us as we work to support the American Heart Association’s mission of saving lives. Sign up through the App – search Kids Heart Challenge or online at www.heart.org/khc and have your student take a challenge to Move More, Be Kind or Be Ready so they can earn their FREE wristband. **Every student who raises $25 will earn a CUP OF SLIME to pour on Ms. Johnson** Check out our Heart Hero Alexa explaining more about this fun experience: https://youtu.be/mJYbsNji1QA

It is December 1773 and Mrs. Kropps Social Studies Secret Agents are using multiple types of ciphers and puzzles to help the Sons of Liberty unlock the door to their meeting room. Sam Adams, John Hancock, and Paul Revere are counting on their sleuthing skills and knowledge to find the code.... time is running out. Will the meeting happen? This meeting will start a massive push for freedom or are we forever under the King's tyrannical rule? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Roosa students K-5th grade did a cross curricular lesson tying Stuart Roosa day in with Science and Art. Class started with a brief discussion about the life of Stuart Roosa, the moon, planets and outer space followed by a fun art project. The moon was created using soft pastels. Individual pieces were made incorporating our lexicon word of the week "resist" by using crayons and watercolors. The students were taught pencil sketching, wax resist and the process of blending liquid watercolors while learning about our favorite astronaut, Stuart Roosa. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
