My husband, Dustin, and I were high school sweethearts at Ponca City High School, and we've been married for 13 years. We have two canine hooligans and two human kiddos (also hooligans). I moved my family to Claremore a little over a year ago because I wanted my babies to grow up in the Zebra family! My almost 5 year old son is in Pre-K, and it'll be a few years before his fireball of a sister joins him at Roosa.
The school psychology profession chose me after I realized that I wasn't woman enough to be a special education teacher and changed my undergraduate major to psychology. My degree is in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in School Psychology from OSU. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District outside of Houston, TX, and stayed on staff there for an extra year after graduation.
This is my 7th year working with the amazing staff and students at Roosa Elementary and Will Rogers Junior High School. My job is unique in that I get to work with staff, students, and parents to make sure that all kiddos can achieve to their highest level. School psychology is really the best of both education and psychology in that I get to help students make gains not only academically but also socially, emotionally and behaviorally. #ROOSASTAFFSPOTLIGHT

It can be a jungle inside the library especially if you do not know where things are located! 4th graders did a Library Search Party. In Kindergarten going to the library means getting to hear a story and getting to check out a book. These students know how important it is to take care of their books so others can check them out in the future. Way to go Little Zebras! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Happy New Year from Claremore Public Schools. As we enter into a new year, we all seem to take time to reflect on our lives, habits, choices from the past and contemplate how they impact our future. This reflection can lead to new inspiration, goals, resolutions, or a new focus. Instead of adding to it, some consideration may lead to removing obstacles or habits from our lives. Either way, we are all looking for a positive change.
Whether you choose a resolution, a goal, a word - we'd love for you to share it with us on our FB page and maybe inspire others.
Remember: Our students return on Tuesday, January 4th.

Mrs. Devers’ 2nd grade class completed a how-to writing unit about hot chocolate! It included graphing and writing about their favorite way to drink hot chocolate. They used adjectives to describe hot chocolate, and wrote how to make the perfect cup of hot chocolate. They ended the unit with an exploding hot chocolate science experiment to review the states of matter and chemical reactions, as well as hot chocolate and buddy reading outside on a beautiful fall day. Fun was had by all! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
