Mrs. Ramsey is at it again! She’s always looking for opportunities to shower our students with literacy enriching opportunities.
Through a partnership with the RCLC - the Rogers County Literacy Council - 2nd and 3rd grade students each received books to add to their shelves at home!
Edel Godwin, the Executive Director, was thrilled to be able to share these books with our students - which was all made possible through funding from the Sarkeys Foundation.
Thank you, Rogers County Literacy Council!

On this #wellnesswednesday, we want to stress the importance of keeping your children safe online.
There are several ways to accomplish this, but here are a few of our favorites:
1. Discuss internet safety with your children.
2. When children are on their devices, make sure they’re in an open room where they can be easily supervised.
3. Review games, apps, and any mobile sites before allowing your child to download them - or browse them.
4. Adjust privacy settings and parental controls. You are the frontline in keeping your child safe!

GT students did several experiments this week.
In this one, they learned WHY water will defy gravity and climb up some materials (a paper towel), but not others (plastic or metal): absorption, adhere/ adhesion, water molecules, porous material, microscopic, & cohesion.

Our students use their devices every day! 1st grade students work on their devices during small group rotations, and spend time on programs such as Prodigy for math, Reading Eggs for reading, or Epic for read to self.

Do you remember having a journal as an elementary student?
5th grade students take time to write in their journals every day - sometimes with a prompt and sometimes free writing, getting to put to paper whatever is on their mind.
Writing is such an important, foundational skill for elementary students, as it becomes more complex and inherent in schooling as students grow and mature.

As a part of their morning attendance routine, Pre-K students add their names to the "present" column, and then count together the number of students who are absent and the number who are present.
These students are learning great number sense!

With cold weather upon us, we remind our bus rider families to download our STOPFINDER APP to their mobile phones. The GPS option allows you to put a geofence around your stop and the app will notify you when the bus has entered that area. It also allows you to see where the bus is on the route in real-time, at your convenience.
Download available for FREE from the App Store or Google Play.

2nd grade students were eager to get back to the library to exchange their books!
Did you know, reading not only widens a child's vocabulary, but through reading, children develop empathy, build confidence, and expand their imagination. Reading impacts many facets of a child's development!

For 3rd graders, "the cold never bothered them anyway!"
Students are still enjoying outdoor recess - and will continue to do so until the weather no longer permits. Please remember to send your child to school in weather appropriate clothing, and don't forget to send a coat!

Mornings can be hard.
That's why, for this #wellnesswednesday, we want to give you 4 tips for starting your school day mornings with success.
#1. Organize school essentials the night before. Set everything your child needs out for the morning: school clothes, charged devices, etc.
#2. Set an earlier bed-time. Early to sleep, early to rise!
#3. Create a soothing down-time routine before bed. This might include a bath, a story, and snuggles before lights out.
#4. Reduce screen - time. Screen time has been known to make falling asleep harder, shorten attention spans, etc. Allow less screen time sets your child up for school day success!

We are reminiscing on this cold Tuesday morning!
Before we left for our Holiday Break, Kindergarten students celebrated Polar Express Day - with PJ's, hot cocoa, popcorn, and of course the movie: The Polar Express!
As much fun as we had before our break, and as much fun as we know you had while we were out of school, we are so happy to be back in the building with our students!

Happy New Year from Claremore Public Schools. As we enter into a new year, we all seem to take time to reflect on our lives, habits, choices from the past and contemplate how they impact our future. This reflection can lead to new inspiration, goals, resolutions, or a new focus. Instead of adding to it, some consideration may lead to removing obstacles or habits from our lives. Either way, we are all looking for a positive change.
Whether you choose a resolution, a goal, a word - we'd love for you to share it with us on our FB page and maybe inspire others.
Remember: Our students return on Tuesday, January 4th.
