Mrs. Millsap’s 3rd-grade class recently presented our weekly Rise and Shine. The students led us in the Great Expectations, taught us about the state of Oklahoma—including our state rock, state animal, and state drink—and reminded us of a quote from Martin Luther King Jr.: “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

It looks like the meteorologists were right on the mark this time. Claremore Public Schools will be closed again on Wednesday, February 19th, due to the continued winter weather. While we always strive to keep schools open, safety remains our top priority.
After-school activities, athletics, and competitive events are canceled. Coaches and program directors will provide updates on specific activities through Rooms on your CPS mobile app.
This will be an official “snow day,” so your assignment includes being safe, staying warm, and making a memory! Make it “A Great Day To Be A Zebra.”
District leaders will continue to monitor the forecast and evaluate conditions, and decisions will be made on a day-by-day basis. Updates will be on all CPS platforms (Website, Mobile App, Facebook, & Email) and local TV stations. Download the app on Android or iPhone. Make sure your contact information is up to date on your parent portal.

As we wrap up the last of our class party pictures, we want to say thank you to everyone who helped make Kindness Week and our class Valentine's parties a success! This past week was a great reminder to be kind, but we hope it will serve as a reminder to always be kind and caring toward others. A little bit of kindness can go a long way!

Last week, our 4th graders explored how weight and force affect movement. In the spirit of the Super Bowl, they conducted experiments using paper footballs! They tested three different flicking methods and then added a paper clip to see if that small change affected the distance the football traveled.
They also took a poll to predict the Super Bowl winner! Are you cheering for the Chiefs or the Eagles today? Let us know in the comments!

Our 4th-graders have been learning about LEDs and circuits. They created cards using batteries and LEDs and discussed the importance of storing them safely, as batteries can be hazardous.

How Sick Is Too Sick For School?
Tis the season in Oklahoma - sniffling, sneezing, coughing, headache, fever, tummy aches, nausea, etc.
We miss our students when absent, but sometimes they need to recover at home; how do you make that decision? CPS encourages following the Oklahoma State Department of Health guidelines. These guidelines will help the child recover and protect against the spread of illnesses to other students and staff.
Remember, students/staff should only return to school after being fever-free, vomiting or diarrhea-free for 24 hours without medication.
