2nd graders are working HARD.
Students in Mrs. Howell's second grade class spend time working on different parts of their Native American Unit. Students learn about Native Americans, Pilgrims, and the history of Thanksgiving during the month of November.

Since the beginning of the year, our Resource Teacher Mrs. Massey has been spending time with 4th graders working on spelling multi-syllabic words.
In this exercise, Mrs. Massey tells the students how many syllables are in the word, and then syllable by syllable goes through the word with the students until they are able to identify what it is at the end.
This is a great exercise in reading as well as spelling!

Mrs. Francis continues to encourage students to create art in and out of the school building. One way she does this, in addition to the Brag Wall, is to allow students days throughout the year where they get to create something on their own, using the supplies she has in the classroom.
These 5th grade boys chose to create landscapes using pastels - putting into practice what they had previously learned about creating landscape art, layering color, and planning ahead for what they wanted to draw.

3rd graders use graphic organizers to become better, more involved readers.
*Before reading, students are prompted to WONDER about the story - asking questions and making predictions.
*During reading, students identify the genre, setting, characters, and vocabulary words they want to know more about.
*After reading, students reflect on the point of view, setting, and character traits.

FRIDAYS WITH FRAZIER
Congratulations to our eight Site Teacher of the Year recipients. Their colleagues chose them to represent their site for consideration for the 2021-2022 Claremore Public Schools Teacher of the Year, announced later this month.
Over the next several months, each teacher will create a dossier including a personal biography and essays on education issues and trends, community involvement, philosophy of teaching, and the teaching profession. A committee will review these documents, a lesson video and host an interview with each candidate.
Stay tuned to learn more about each of these fantastic teachers and why their peers choose them to represent their school. The District Teacher of the Year will be announced in the spring of 2022.
