Claremore High School took six officers to the OK Association of Student Councils' State Convention.
The event offers leadership training for high school students to take back to their schools to impact the student body positively.
We met up with Anna Greenland, CHS Junior Class Representative, about her experience. While building friendships and having fun, she gained some valuable incite and goals for the future.
The workshops and speakers challenged her to consider self-care and personal growth as a leader.
“Although it sounds counterintuitive to focus on oneself in service and leadership, its importance was revealed to me during this event. To be a great leader and pour into others, leaders must make sure they are filled up. One way to grow in this area is through a process that helps focus on response to the situations around us rather than letting emotions or immediate reactions take over,” she shared.
Anna is motivated to create more inclusive and celebratory CHS school events. She is looking into strategies to increase attendance at events such as the performing arts program which tends to have the least student presence.
She sees StuCo as the catalyst for unity by bringing the school together, uplifting, and serving the students and staff. “I would like to specifically focus on this at CHS and use StuCo to set this change into motion,” she told us with great enthusiasm!
“The purpose of StuCo at CHS is to bring the school leaders together so that we can set an example for others and uplift them through that example,” She is intentional when talking about servant leadership and its role in creating unity in our school. “We are here to serve the student body and school in any capacity; that usually looks like organizing and executing school events that bring our students together and instill school spirit,” she added.
We are proud of Anna’s dedication to the school and thankful for the opportunity to develop and apply leadership and life skills.

Claremore’s Maddox Thomas – VYPE Athlete Spotlight
Role models can play a big role in the lives of high school student-athletes. They not only make an impact on how they play the game, but they also influence the type of person they become. While some look up to professional athletes or celebrities, Maddox Thomas says that her biggest influence is someone a little closer to home.

FRIDAYS WITH FRAZIER
Congratulations to our eight Site Teacher of the Year recipients. Their colleagues chose them to represent their site for consideration for the 2021-2022 Claremore Public Schools Teacher of the Year, announced later this month.
Over the next several months, each teacher will create a dossier including a personal biography and essays on education issues and trends, community involvement, philosophy of teaching, and the teaching profession. A committee will review these documents, a lesson video and host an interview with each candidate.
Stay tuned to learn more about each of these fantastic teachers and why their peers choose them to represent their school. The District Teacher of the Year will be announced in the spring of 2022.

There are so many significant events going on at CHS, so check out t this week's ZTV!
Our students are taking a professional approach to develop their broadcasting skills and telling the CHS story along the way. Each team is taking time to implement the three main steps in video production: pre-production, the planning stage for mapping out your strategy and script for the video; production is the phase in which the video is shot; and finally, post-production, which involves editing the video adding music and other effects.
