Taylor Hoffer at Claremore High School was awarded a 2021 Fall Grant for "Picasso Needs a Table (Phase 2)"! "This fall CPSF completed a grant started in the spring of 2021 to replace the 30+ year old desks in classroom 210. Our art students now have access to state-of-the-art drafting tables. Art students spend 80% of the semester drawing or painting; these new smooth surfaces lift to alleviate neck and back strain as students work on their art for 70 minutes at a time. They will use these tables to create highly competitive artwork that will be submitted to the Philbrook Museum, the Scholastic art and writing competition, Young Talent, the Oklahoma state fair and more! "-Taylor Hoffer, CHS Art Teacher To support CPSF efforts to provide more grants, register to attend our Jan. 29th, Brainiac Brawl https://claremorepublicschoolsfoundation.org/events/ #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Happy New Year from Claremore Public Schools. As we enter into a new year, we all seem to take time to reflect on our lives, habits, choices from the past and contemplate how they impact our future. This reflection can lead to new inspiration, goals, resolutions, or a new focus. Instead of adding to it, some consideration may lead to removing obstacles or habits from our lives. Either way, we are all looking for a positive change. Whether you choose a resolution, a goal, a word - we'd love for you to share it with us on our FB page and maybe inspire others. Remember: Our students return on Tuesday, January 4th. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

You will receive a welcome email from our service provider (Peachjar) that includes a login link. This is provided to give you the opportunity to manage your account and flyer delivery preferences. You do not need to login to receive or view school eflyers. To ensure smooth delivery of this communication, we suggest you add school@peachjar.com to your email contacts. When you receive your first eflyer, be sure to click “always display images.” This system is used exclusively for the distribution of school-approved flyers and will be sent each Monday. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose. Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure parents are well informed about school programs, activities, and events. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Playing school sports is all about fundamentals, fundamentals of the sport, and fundamentals of life. Coach Sherl wants the athletes he coaches to walk away with the most enjoyable experience on the baseball field, but he also wants them to be better people. Before Thanksgiving break, the Claremore Baseball team filled the community food pantry at the Rogers County jail with more than three pickup loads of food! After the shelves were filled, the team took a tour through the jail. They were surprised to see that there were families in need benefiting from the donations when they finished the tour. Coach wants to give them experiences they never forget and empower them to impact the world around them...starting in Claremore, OK. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Claremore High School took six officers to the OK Association of Student Councils' State Convention. The event offers leadership training for high school students to take back to their schools to impact the student body positively. We met up with Anna Greenland, CHS Junior Class Representative, about her experience. While building friendships and having fun, she gained some valuable incite and goals for the future. The workshops and speakers challenged her to consider self-care and personal growth as a leader. “Although it sounds counterintuitive to focus on oneself in service and leadership, its importance was revealed to me during this event. To be a great leader and pour into others, leaders must make sure they are filled up. One way to grow in this area is through a process that helps focus on response to the situations around us rather than letting emotions or immediate reactions take over,” she shared. Anna is motivated to create more inclusive and celebratory CHS school events. She is looking into strategies to increase attendance at events such as the performing arts program which tends to have the least student presence. She sees StuCo as the catalyst for unity by bringing the school together, uplifting, and serving the students and staff. “I would like to specifically focus on this at CHS and use StuCo to set this change into motion,” she told us with great enthusiasm! “The purpose of StuCo at CHS is to bring the school leaders together so that we can set an example for others and uplift them through that example,” She is intentional when talking about servant leadership and its role in creating unity in our school. “We are here to serve the student body and school in any capacity; that usually looks like organizing and executing school events that bring our students together and instill school spirit,” she added. We are proud of Anna’s dedication to the school and thankful for the opportunity to develop and apply leadership and life skills. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Claremore’s Maddox Thomas – VYPE Athlete Spotlight Role models can play a big role in the lives of high school student-athletes. They not only make an impact on how they play the game, but they also influence the type of person they become. While some look up to professional athletes or celebrities, Maddox Thomas says that her biggest influence is someone a little closer to home. FRIDAYS WITH FRAZIER Congratulations to our eight Site Teacher of the Year recipients. Their colleagues chose them to represent their site for consideration for the 2021-2022 Claremore Public Schools Teacher of the Year, announced later this month. Over the next several months, each teacher will create a dossier including a personal biography and essays on education issues and trends, community involvement, philosophy of teaching, and the teaching profession. A committee will review these documents, a lesson video and host an interview with each candidate. Stay tuned to learn more about each of these fantastic teachers and why their peers choose them to represent their school. The District Teacher of the Year will be announced in the spring of 2022. ▶ https://youtu.be/adQizWIs_8o #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
