ALL STUDENTS EAT FOR FREE
The USDA – in an unprecedented move, due to the pandemic – is going to make school breakfast and lunch available FREE to all children through December 31, 2020, but is subject to end earlier due to available USDA funds. Lunch and breakfast will be available free every day to all students 18 and under; effective Thursday, September 3. This means that even students who are not ordinarily part of the free or reduced lunch programs will also be included in these free meal distributions.
- Students must take all food and drink components to receive it for free.
- Any second meal or extra purchases must be paid for with cash or an account.
CVS students can order their weekly meals by Wednesday at 10 AM, each week, to be picked up the following Monday at the Enrollment Center from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. You can find the order form on our Child Nutrition Dept. web page.
Distance Learning Fridays will also qualify for this program. Families with students participating in the traditional option and want to take part in Friday meals need to order by Wednesday at 10 AM. Pick up your meals at your school of record between 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. You can find the order form on our Child Nutrition Dept. web page.
This program will last until December 31 or until the USDA funds run out. Everyone needs to complete the 2020-2021 Free and Reduced Meal Application online if you have not already done so. Claremore Public Schools receives funding based on the number of people who have applied for this assistance.
“The district receives funds for teacher and staff salaries, equipment, supplies, books, technology and internet service,” Superintendent Bryan Frazier said. “It also allows for free or reduced fees for college entrance exams and applications provided through our counseling services.”
In addition, completing the application will allow for a seamless transition if/when the program through the USDA ends for those that do qualify to continue receiving free/reduced meals.
