Record number of CHS Choir students selected for NECDA All-District Choir
Seventeen CHS choral students selected for the Northeastern Choral Directors Association All-District Choir. "This is a record number for the Claremore High School Choir Department," said director Ruel Doonkeen.
Students enter a blind audition room, hidden by a framed screen from the district's choral director judges. The students sing selections from four different and highly challenging choral literature music. The accuracy of notes they sing, the accuracy of rhythm, intonation (singing in tune), diction (how well they form their words and sing the language), and overall musicianship are all part of the judging process.
Students learn this music outside of the school day and practice several hundred hours to make the notes perfect. Congratulations to: Kate Bainbridge, Caroline Crum, Austin Day, Brooklyn Doonkeen, Teah Ellard, Mattie Long, Jordan Lyons, Faith Morrissey, Bryce Urban, and Shon Wise. In addition, CHS had seven 1st Alternate, including Kaitlyn Pinkerton, Riley Renfroe, Emalee Ruth, Natalie Schubert, Max Stadler, Keith Wiginton, and Lauren Worley.
Our students will join with students from 19 other schools in the district to form the Northeastern Choral Directors Association All-District Choir.
The performance will be open to the public on November 5th at 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Downtown Tulsa.
