⚓️💥 Battleship Math Attack! 💥⚓️ Mrs. Ritter’s 5th grade class put their math skills to the test with an exciting round of Battleship Math! Students practiced solving problems and plotting points on a coordinate grid — but with a twist of friendly competition! 🎯 They had so much fun calling out coordinates, cheering for hits, and celebrating their math victories. What a great way to make learning interactive and exciting! 🧮🚀 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Our sweet friend and Catalayah Alumni, Makenzie stopped by last week and brought some goodies for the teachers lounge!! We love to see our alumni doing great things. Thank you Keke for thinking of us!! Be sure to think of Keke for all your house hunting and selling needs! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

🚀 What an incredible opportunity! Mrs. Henry generously put out a challenge to Catalayah and Westside for a chance to win a visit with former NFL player, NASA astronaut, and engineer Leland Melvin! Ms. Johnson’s 4th grade class rose to the challenge and won — earning the unforgettable prize of an astronaut visit! 🌟 Students had a great time and were so grateful for the opportunity. Mr. Melvin was so informative and truly inspiring! Did you know? ✨ Leland Melvin is the only person ever drafted into the NFL who has also flown in space! ✨ He flew on two Space Shuttle missions (STS-122 and STS-129) and logged over 565 hours in space. ✨ He’s also famous for his NASA portrait featuring his two rescue dogs, Jake and Scout. ✨ After retiring, he became NASA’s Associate Administrator for Education, helping inspire the next generation of scientists and explorers. Thank you, Mrs. Henry, for bringing such an amazing experience to our students — and thank you, Mr. Melvin, for reminding us to dream big, work hard, and reach for the stars! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Today is National Custodian Day!!!! Saira is absolutely amazing!!! We appreciate her and our night crew for everything they do. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Reminder for Homecoming Dress Up Days!!

This week in the Library 3rd-5th graders started STEM & Literacy centers. Magnetic Chess is a fun, interactive game that develops multiple skills connected to STEM including: spatial reasoning, hands-on exploration, and the science of magnetism. Book reviews & puzzles have also been added. After the lesson and book check out students have the option of finding a cozy place to read or selecting one of the center activities. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Bingo Night is this Friday!!! Live Auction, Food, Zebra Merch, Bingo and a ton of fun!! Get your chance to win tickets while you can. Winners will be announced Friday Night! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Ms. Hall's 1st grade class read a book about spiders and then they labeled one! After that, they made a spider math craft! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Ward's class made these cute Fall projects to welcome Fall. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Castles’ 3rd grade class teamed up with their book buddies in Mrs. Newman’s kindergarten class to create the most spook-tacular shape monsters! 👾🎨 The students used circles, squares, triangles, and so many more shapes to design their own unique creatures. Each monster turned out silly, spooky, and one-of-a-kind—just like the amazing imaginations that made them! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We are so excited to announce our 2025 Homecoming Prince and Princess… Kennedy and Jace!!!

They’ll be spending time with the high school homecoming court next week, including school tours on Thursday. Be sure to cheer them on and look for them at Homecoming Friday night before the football game!
