COUNSELOR CORNER

MEET MRS. MCCOMB

I was an Elementary teacher for 6 years before I became a counselor. I've been the school counselor at Catalayah for 11 years now and love what I do!! I've lived in Claremore all my life and my kids graduated from CPS in 2018 and 2020. They are both in college now one is at RSU and the other is at OSU.

I graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelors in Psychology. I'm about halfway done with my Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Oklahoma. I started working for DHS in 2011 as a Child Support Enforcement Specialist. After that, I worked in Child Welfare for 7 years before moving to School-Based in 2020. Being a school social worker is my dream job and I absolutely love working in Claremore. This District as a whole really cares about the families of our students. That makes my job wonderful because I always feel supported in the things I need to do to help our families.

This is my 5th year as a Certified School Psychologist for Claremore Public Schools, and I work with Catalayah Elementary and Claremore High School. This is my 17th year as a School Psychologist and I previously worked in Missouri before moving to Oklahoma. I enjoy what I do and the people and students I get to work with! I received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Union University, Jackson, TN, and a Master's degree in General Psychology and Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS. I married my husband, Garrett Kimblern, almost 4 years ago, and I have 3 amazing and fun step-sons who attend CPS, and are involved in Zebra sports including baseball, football and lacrosse. When I'm not working, you'll find me at a sporting event, cooking or reading! I am so blessed with my job, family and friends!
