Peak a boo I see you Mrs. Geranen...won't you come out and play
A see saws the way to rock through your day
Mrs Browns class has a water fall
So this elf jumped in and had a ball
In Hutchins room I needed a drink
So I got some good ole H2O from the sink
One more week to go
Till the big Ho Ho Ho!

Seated on the lap of their parents during story-time, children too will grow into readers. Mrs. Book's class at Westside has had several guest readers this month, inspiring her students to read. With the holiday break just around the corner, we encourage you to take time to read to your kids during the coming weeks.
What's one of your kids' favorite books for you to read to them?

Today Hall and Coffee had rooms to inspect
So I snuck in not a sound to detect
All the computers were password protected
So I sat in the back I hope undetected
In art there was yarn laid out neat in a row
So I tried it on... geez ...wish I had a bow
So many crayons I just had to jump in
So much fun don't know where to begin

Catalayah 5th graders have been getting ready for BizTown this week! They had their interviews and assigned to their jobs; the Mayor has been elected, now they are prepared to go. We even had special guest Ethan Hutchins, Reporter for Channel 8 News came by and gave our Biztown reporter some tips!

Looks like our Catalayah elf has a friend. Ms. Candy Cane visited Catalayah kindergarten this week to read and... pass out candy canes. Not only is she an inspiration to these students but a mentor to their teacher. She continuously and generously contributes encouragement, influence, and growth to Mrs. Stolusky's teaching career! We are thankful for those teachers that continue to pour into the next generation of students and teachers.

I found my way on down the hall
To second grade rooms but I had a quick fall
Right into Mrs. Beasley's large craft trash can
With a little assistance, I got out and ran
Right over to McCracken's room real fast
To find her elf upside down on a mast
After the blood went back down to my toes
I went to check Casey's elf's pose
He was last minute shopping for Christmas toys
So I got his prime password and got gifts for my boys
Bennett had lots of books on her shelf
So I cleared them cause duh this shelf needed an elf
Can't wait to come back tomorrow and play
In the gym, I got air and tried a dunk shot
But into the net, my finger got caught
In music, I joined the choir in song
Singing my fav. I could go all day long
Bonham and Hanson had the best spot
To relax and unwind... I've been working a lot
Can't wait to get back to the big guy and say
All the great things I have seen today!

"It's a beautiful mess in the art room today! My students are working on clay coil pots! They have to incorporate three different types of coils (braids, twists, swirls) or sculptural elements into their vessels. They're doing awesome for their first clay project," explained our art teacher, Mrs. Hoffer-Williams.

Thank you to Elizabeth Jean Salon for joining us on our quest to raise money for Zebras United Against Cancer. They did a drawing for a basket from community stores and raised $260 for the cause. "Instead of sending it to a national organization they choose to support ZUAC because it stayed in Claremore and directly benefited individuals in our Zebra Family." - Kristin Sanders Roseberry

Can you design a system that will protect an egg from a fall? That's an Egg Drop Project! Our 8th grade Science classes are trying this experiment. Students try to build a structure that will prevent a raw egg from breaking when dropped from a certain height. When creating this, they must attempt a design that would reduce the amount of energy transferred from potential to kinetic energy on the eggshell, keeping the shell from breaking. Mrs. Dixon's class had two successful egg drops and lots that weren't so successful!
How many of you remember if your egg cracked or stayed safe?
