Exercise your right - your privilege - your duty - GO VOTE!

There is nothing like homemade cinnamon rolls to give a person that feeling of soothing comfort - a big, warm, gooey, frosting dripping down, center of the cinnamon roll. None of the out-of-a-can or plain powdered sugar on top type but a fresh, warm, dough rolled by hand cinnamon roll to wrap you up and communicate appreciation from the sender to the receiver.
Well, that is just what the Claremore CCTA did for ALL the teachers and staff, district-wide. A small but warm gesture to say, "We see you and all you are doing. We support you. We appreciate you." Our teachers' tummies and hearts were fuller this week. Thank you!

🦇 Sometimes our ZAP Advisors go a little "batty" over ZAP.
Mrs. Brace's ZAP group never knows what to expect when they show up for their ZAP meetings. Lesson: GOAL SETTING complete with an obstacle course. Why?
Because when we set goals, we also have to navigate the obstacles that get in our way, we have to find credible resources to support us, we have to listen to others, we have to plan, we have to start over sometimes, and we can have fun while learning about these life principles that will contribute to a successful future.
🦇 Once we reach our goals, we get to celebrate. This time it was with "batty" brownies.

We want all students to learn, and the best way to make that happen is to protect their electronic devices. Here are some reminders on how to protect your device.
If you have any issues with your device, contact your school of record immediately to begin the repair claim process.

It's Halloween week, and today's #MotivationMonday is about conquering our fears.
What is your favorite quote when facing adversity or fear?

Red Ribbon Week is a call to action to speak out in support of healthy choices.
A reminder that by staying drug-free, we are sending a message to ourselves and others about how much we value ourselves, our overall health, our community, and our future.

2020 CHS Homecoming King Brooks Sherl and Queen Faith Stone.

"We don't remember days; we remember moments." — Unknown.
Tonight is one moment these royal Zebras will remember for years to come. The seniors have spoken and chosen 8 King and 8 Queen candidates for this year's royal court. Tonight they will reveal the 2020 Homecoming King and Queen, the entire student body has selected. Coronation will take place at 6:30 PM on Lantow Field.
In all honesty, you don't need to be in the running for king or queen to look forward to homecoming. It's your last high school homecoming hoorah with your crew. Whether you are a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior, this moment will always have its memories.

Morgan and Gentry, Claremont Elementary students, have created a workspace on their kitchen table to complete their distance learning assignments.
Here are some additional tips for successful distance/virtual learning.
Let's start with a productive study environment.
𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 - make a plan and stick to it. Whether you start early in the morning or at noon - start on time and move through the day with purpose. Set a timer to stay focused, give yourself intermittent breaks, but don't stray too long. Remember to finish your assignments for the day. Don't put off to tomorrow what you can do today.
𝗙𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 - You want to be comfortable, but not so comfortable that you fall asleep (studying in bed is not always the best option). Choose a desk, table, or bar - creating a designated space, so children know it's school time.
𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 - A study space that is not appropriately lit may make you feel sleepy and put a strain on your eyes. Adjust the lighting to make sure your screen contrast is comfortable to look at while working. Natural light is sufficient, but make sure the temptation to look out of the window doesn't distract you from your studies.
𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 - Have all the study materials you need to hand and ONLY the study materials to remove distractions. Keep traditional school supplies in a designated area.
𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 - A tidy and efficient desktop is a useful desktop, whether it's your real desk or on your computer.
𝗣𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 - In this day and age, it might seem like an unrealistic request, but detaching from your smartphone while studying (unless you are studying on your phone) will allow you to get down to some serious work.
𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 - You may be the kind of person who enjoys a little background noise when studying. However, keep it at a low volume and make sure it's something you don't have to turn your attention to and manage often.
𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 - Make sure that the study space you have created is only used for studying, if possible. This space physically represents your dedication and focus on achieving your goals for the day. If it's impossible to have a dedicated space, make sure you can transform an appropriate area to and from your dedicated study space as seamlessly and tidily as possible.
We understand that studying online takes dedication and discipline, but the advantages of getting your study method, space, and routine set up are totally worth it. Follow these tips to make sure you give yourself the best chance to succeed when distance or online learning and make your study space the place where learning happens.
Keep sending in those photos of your child participating in Distance Learning Fridays. Comment on our FB post or email them to jbrace@claremore.k12.ok.us.

"Music is what feeling sounds like," unknown. Recently, 19 students from Claremore High School (CHS) sang their way to feeling accomplished, proud, excited, and honored. Why? Because they were selected to the 2020-21 Northeastern Choral Directors Association All-District Choir. These students gained membership through a choir singing audition process and were chosen based on the highest score. The competition included other students from several schools across northeastern Oklahoma, including Bixby, Owasso, and Bartlesville.
This year two CHS students are receiving 6-Year medals. This distinguished and prestigious honor awarded to students selected to the All-District Choir every year from 7th through 12th grade. Kaitlyn Pinkerton and Max Stadler have demonstrated their commitment to improving and perfecting their vocal talents will be recognized for their accomplishments.
The honor choir performs every year at 1st Baptist Church in downtown Tulsa. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, there will be no Honor Choir concert this year. However, you can hear these 19 choir members and their counterparts on December 12th at the annual CHS Christmas Concert.
The CHS students selected into the 2020-21 NCDA All-District Choir are Lacey Arthur, JH Choir-Soprano 2; Miranda Cribb, JH Choir-Alto 2; Caroline Crum, HS Choir-Soprano 2; Austin Day, HS Choir-Tenor 2; Brooklyn Doonkeen, HS Choir-Alto 1; Teah Ellard, HS Choir-Soprano 1; Tavis Fontenot, JH Choir-Tenor 2; Eli Fouse, JH Choir-Tenor 1; Addie Hinds, HS Choir-Alto 1; Kassy Huen, JH Choir-Soprano 1; Hannah Kropp, HS Choir-Alto 2; Mattie Long, HS Choir-Soprano 2; Faith Morrissey, HS Choir-Soprano 1; Kaitlyn Pinkerton, HS Choir-Alto 1; Gracie Roberts, JH Choir-Soprano 1; Max Stadler, HS Choir-Tenor 2; Bryce Urban, HS Choir-Tenor 2; and Keith Wiginton, HS Choir-Bass 1.
