Today's #WellnessWednesday reminds us our WORDS HAVE POWER - 50 WAYS TO EMPOWER OUR CHILDREN As adults, how we speak to our children is so important. Showing your child you believe in them through encouraging words is something that will empower them in ways unimaginable as they grow up — and those feelings of support and reassurance will stick with them well into adulthood. Validating who they are and reassuring them that they're enough, they're important, and they can do whatever they put their mind to is a powerful message for all of our CPS students. Read through this list of empowering phrases you can say to your child daily to help them feel confident and encourage their sense of self. 1. Your dreams are important. 2. You can do anything you set your mind to. 3. You are enough. 4. You make me proud. 5. It's OK to feel scared. 6. You can't always change the things you can't control. 7. Your attitude can change any situation. 8. It's OK to make mistakes. 9. Even if you make a mistake, you can fix it. 10. Your opinion matters. 11. You can try again tomorrow. 12. Always be true to yourself. 13. Nobody is perfect. 14. You are a great friend. 15. Don't let anyone put down your ambitions. 16. You can change the world. 17. Being kind does not make you weak. 18. Your words are meaningful. 19. You deserve to be happy. 20. You have unique ideas. 21. You don't have to be perfect to be great. 22. I believe in you. 23. Let's try it your way. 24. Follow your heart. 25. Never stop trying. 26. You can do it! 27. You don't have to do what everyone else is doing. 28. You are worth it. 29. Your ideas are great. 30. Anything is possible. 31. Dream big. 32. You have a choice. 33. You can say no. 34. You can say yes. 35. Don't be afraid to be you. 36. You're making a difference. 37. You're important to me. 38. I value you. 39. Go with your gut. 40. You're not too young to do anything. 41. You don't need to be just like your friends. 42. It's your decision. 43. Never give up. 44. You are stronger than you think. 45. If you believe in something, it's important. 46. Don't compare yourself to anybody else. 47. I trust you. 48. You don't have to be perfect; you just have to try your best. 49. You can do hard things. 50. Don't quit until you're proud. Do you have another one we could add to the list? #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

We've got another winter weather challenge for our Zebra families. Let's make some Ice Marbles. Put a few drops of food coloring or Kool-aid powder into a balloon then fill with water. Place outside and let it freeze. Depending on how big the balloons are and how cold it is, this will take about 24 hours. Hold them up to the light to see if they are frozen all the way through. Join Finley, Alayna & Brecken from Westside and submit your photos in the comments of the CPS FB page. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Reese had watched a YouTube tutorial about how to make calming bubble bottles. She told her teacher about it, and Mrs. Casey let her do a demonstration to her classmates. What a great example of maximizing a teachable moment! Reese may not realize the public speaking skills she was developing, the confidence she was building, but she will always remember her teacher valued her and encouraged her interests that day. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Claremont kids "measure" up! Reading a 📏 ruler is a basic skill that continues to be foundational in many careers. Claremont 5th graders are practicing this life-long skill. Help reinforce why learning this skill is essential. What career are you in that used this measurement skill? Drop it in the comments. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Remote learning isn’t new: Radio instruction in the 1937 polio epidemic. ...This delay sparked the first large-scale “radio school” experiment through a highly innovative – though largely untested – program. Some 315,000 children in grades 3 through 8 continued their education at home, receiving lessons on the radio. (tonesreview.com) #CPSZEBRAPRIDE #TBT

Distance Learning Day! Barrett set up a study station at home to help him stay focused on his work. His teacher, Mrs. Karin Howell at Claremont Elementary, assigned students to use their library books to take part in an interactive recorded video book scavenger hunt reinforcing their language arts focus. As the teacher called a skill, students were asked to record the example they found in their own text. Mrs. Howell provided her own example using a song playing in the background. We miss our students and would love to see them learning at home - post a pic in the comments. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

💡 We are lighting up our students' minds and smiles! Mrs. Lauri Titsworth's Pre-K class at Westside recently received a light board and materials through a Claremore Public Schools Foundation grant. The children enjoy using it to practice sorting, counting, making patterns, and creating geometric designs. I'm so proud of their ability to share and take turns! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
