It may be summer, but our teachers are always learning! They are soaking up the sun, new skills, and knowledge! ☀🌊🍧
Claremore Public Schools are a Great Expectation District; all 4 elementary sites and our junior high are GE Model Schools! Twenty-three CPS teachers and administrators spent 4 days of their summer at the Great Expectations training, learning alongside other educators from the area. It was a week of professional collaboration and growth, targeting ways to elevate school culture and academic excellence!
We are excited to see what they have learned and are bringing back to their classrooms and the district!! It's A Great Day To Be A Zebra!❤🦓🍎

This year Will Rogers Junior High counselors started a mentoring group! The mentoring group's purpose is to help foster WRJH community connections and teach positive communication skills through team-building activities.
The group connects older students with younger or new students. The students play games, have lunch, and talk to each other during lunches. It was a great way for students to become better friends with their peers, foster social skills, and make new friendships!🦓❤

Today's #ZebraTravelDiaries comes with some history! Amy Cochrane and Audrey Tidwell had an AMAZING historical experience while on vacation. They went to visit William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans. William Frantz was one of the first all-white elementary schools in the deep south to be integrated when Ruby Bridges became the first African American student to attend the all-white public school on November 14th, 1960.
They had the opportunity to view the sculpture of Ruby Bridges, titled “Honoring the Power of Children.” They shared that the sculpture left a lasting impression.
They then proceeded to the front of the school, retracing the steps of the courageous six-year-old Ruby as they walked up the historic steps. "Upon reaching the top of the steps, the front door opened, revealing an elderly gentleman who inquired about our purpose. We began explaining that we are educators from Oklahoma, and we teach our students about Ruby’s remarkable courage. To our astonishment, he graciously invited us inside the school. He guided us to the very room where she received her education. It was a remarkable experience that will be etched in our memories forever. " -Audrey Tidwell
