EVERY STUDENT MATTERS!

CPS teachers and administrators use their gifts to find ways to motivate and connect with students. This mural perfectly exemplifies how our administrators help their teachers and students to ensure all students learn and feel valued.

Mrs. Andrea Ratcliff, the assistant principal and former art teacher at Westside, spent time on the district professional development day creating a mural in one of the classrooms.  Drawing inspiration from a child's specific interests and choosing affirmations to help them incorporate positivity, self-worth, and an attitude of improvement into their daily life.

Mrs. Ratcliff explained,  “I’m just trying to do what’s best to help every kid, no matter where they are, to find success and know they are loved….and worthy of something good.”

The teacher(s) will use this life-sized coloring book to incentivize their student’s learning progress. Mrs. Ratcliff drew the boundaries of the artwork; the student will fill in the color between the lines as they achieve their learning goals and behavioral objectives.

The old adage is true - No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.

We look forward to admiring the finished masterpiece on the wall and in this child's heart.
