Janna Ragland - Director of Child Nutrition Announcement

Attention Zebra families! Exciting news!! This school year, Claremore Zebras take back the cafeteria with our ALL NEW, IN-HOUSE child nutrition program launching on August 20th, 2024! At CPS, we strive for excellence in all areas of education. With more focus on nutrition, we aim to provide the highest quality of food and service to our students and staff. Gathering input from our students is a crucial part of our program. It’s important to us that we take their opinions and preferences into account when constructing menus and recipes, ensuring customer satisfaction. We adjust accordingly to meet their needs while adhering to federal guidelines and crafting nutritious meals. Our dazzle of Zebras can look forward to fresh new products, student input, interactive culinary demonstrations, and top-notch customer service!

With our new program in place, we will launch a series to familiarize you with the friendly faces of our Zebra nutrition crew! Meet the team serving smiles and healthy meals for the 2024-2025 school year!

Ms. Janna Ragland, Claremore Public Schools Director of Child Nutrition, has worked in the field since 2009. She “immediately fell in love with this area of education while serving the students each day. Nothing beats each smile, high-five, and hug you get as they pick up their breakfast or lunch meal.” Her favorite part of working in child nutrition is the students: “Knowing we make an impact in their day by feeding them good and nutritious meals to help them be more focused and engaged in class is a satisfying reward!”

In 2019, she became part of the Zebra family! Since joining our Zebra dazzle, she has formed a deep appreciation for the staff and administration: “Everyone is always ready to jump in and lend a hand no matter what the situation, whenever and wherever needed, without hesitation. The unwavering support for every program, every idea, and every new adventure continues to push me to produce the highest quality child nutrition program for our students in Claremore.”

With the implementation of the new program, we asked Ms. Ragland to outline the department's overall goal and purpose. She expressed that it is to foster a positive, friendly work environment where exceptional customer service and engagement are at the forefront of our child nutrition program. By listening to what our students want, we hope to serve more of our student population, reduce hunger, and fuel learning in the classroom.” She is excited for everything - new products, new menus, new ideas, and most of all, student engagement and input!

Ms. Ragland’s favorite food is pizza with ALL the toppings (except pineapple)! In her free time, she loves “spending time on the water. Whether it be a creek, river, lake, or ocean, she will be soaking in the sun and relaxing. I also enjoy watching baseball games with my son. On the rare occasion, you find us both at home, we will likely be in the kitchen trying out a new recipe!”

There are lots of exciting new things coming this year! Be on the lookout for future announcements and the next “Meet the Team” post!
