Claremore High School (CHS) is thrilled to announce the hiring of Mrs. Sarah Adcock as the new College & Career Pathways Coordinator. This role enhances our students' career readiness and post-secondary success. Mrs. Adcock brings a wealth of experience, passion, and dedication to this vital position, ensuring that every student at CHS is empowered and equipped to navigate their future paths confidently.

In 2017, Sarah began working with Oklahoma GEAR UP as a "College Coach," supporting college freshmen at Rogers State University in Claremore, OK, and assisting students at Claremore and Skiatook schools with college-related needs such as FAFSA and college entry inquiries. She has worked professionally in higher education for fourteen years. Before that, Sara obtained her bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University (OSU). As a student in 2007, she began working with Oklahoma State Football, where she discovered her passion for higher education. In 2011, she was hired full-time in the OSU Football Operations department, working alongside coaches and student-athletes.

Her familiarity with the Claremore community and CHS will facilitate a smooth transition into her new role. As a resident of Claremore, Mrs. Adcock is deeply committed to supporting the students within her community, sharing the same enthusiasm and dedication as the Claremore Public Schools (CPS) administration.

Adcock's approach to career coaching is personalized and student-centered. She believes in listening to students' interests, passions, and strengths to help them identify and pursue their career goals. Her primary objective is to ensure that students graduate from CHS 100% confident in their post-high school plans, whether that involves college, technical training, or other career paths.

"My goal is to empower students to take ownership of their plans," Mrs. Adcock shared. "Every student is different, and it's crucial to tailor my support to meet their individual needs, whether it's finding financial aid, filling out college applications, or understanding the steps towards their chosen career paths."

Throughout her career, Adcock has been instrumental in guiding students toward success. Sarah is an expert on the complexities of financial aid, including FAFSA, Oklahoma's Promise, state and federal aid, and scholarship applications, to make college affordable or cost-free. This financial support allows students to focus on their studies and enjoy their college experience without the burden of debt.

Adcock emphasizes the importance of keeping options open for students still deciding about their career paths or college majors. She encourages students to prepare for multiple pathways, ensuring they are not limited by their choices after high school.

As the new school year approaches, Mrs. Adcock wants students to know that her door is always open. She is eager to assist with any questions or concerns about concurrent courses, the FAFSA, Oklahoma's Promise, and overall post-secondary planning. "I want students to feel comfortable coming to my office," she stated. "My priority is to expose them to the amazing opportunities available and to support them in achieving their goals. Most importantly, I want them to know that I care about them and have their best interests at heart."

CHS is excited to welcome Mrs. Sarah Adcock as the College & Career Pathways Coordinator. Her expertise, passion, and commitment will significantly impact our students' futures.
