Campbell Crum, a CHS junior, recently achieved near-perfection on the PSAT, following an impressive ACT score of 35 as a sophomore. He shared insights into his study methods, diverse extracurricular involvements, and reflections on his exceptional academic achievements.
"When preparing, I'd take multiple practice tests, learn from mistakes, and credit my teachers for a well-rounded education," Campbell revealed. "The main thing that set me up, were my classes at the high school with teachers dedicated to my success and block scheduling, which allowed me to take a diverse class load and gave me a well-rounded knowledge of core subjects.”
Besides academics, Campbell participates in the math club, academic bowl, Young Democrats, and the Dinosaur Club. He serves as SkillsUSA Oklahoma's secondary vice-president through Northeast Tech's Pre-Engineering program.
Receiving his outstanding test results was surreal for Campbell. "It was almost like an out-of-body experience," he recalled. "The one word that comes to mind is surreal. I thought Dr. Hindenburg was playing some cruel joke on me," he added jokingly.
Campbell views his exceptional scores as the result of persistent hard work. "It's the result of all of the lectures I listened to, the migraines, the grade checking, and all of the reading I've done since Pre-K," he shared.
While his college plans are open, Campbell aims to attend a college offering aid and desires a career helping others post-college. He credits influential teachers Mr. Cummings, Mrs. Hammack, Mr. Noland, and Mrs. Steidley, his Pre-Engineering teacher, stands out for her unwavering support.
Expressing gratitude, Campbell thanked his family, teachers, Northeast Tech, and SkillsUSA and humorously acknowledged an unexpected source of inspiration: the Buc-ee's beaver.
Campbell listens to dad rock on Spotify, visits Khan Academy, and takes tests for study routines. His secret? "The real magic happens when I drink a C4 energy," he admitted. "I do feel like there are bugs in my skin, but with the results I've gotten, I feel like it's worth it."
Congratulations to Campbell Crum on his academic success and seeing the results of his hard work, diligence, and passion for learning. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
