What advice you would give your freshman self? The biggest advice I would give my freshman self is to never be scared to communicate! There will always be school and social situations that require you to speak up. For instance, you may be unable to complete an assignment on time due to a personal problem. Talk to your teachers! Communication is key! This also applies to your friends; never assume that others will understand you or your point of view without communication.
What has this journey taught you about yourself? My journey at CHS has taught me to always trust the process and that everything will work out as it should! I have learned to trust myself by always putting my needs first and doing my best in all areas of my life. This is why I can trust the process.
🔴 What does this accomplishment mean to you? Finishing out my high-school career is meaningful to me in so many ways! First, it shows how much hard work and determination I've continuously put in to receive the title of salutatorian. It also makes me reflect on the memorable experiences I've had, the relationships I've made, and all the fun things I've done. It is definitely bittersweet to close this chapter, but I am incredibly excited for what's to come!
Looking back on your school experience at CPS what does being a Zebra mean to you? Being a part of the Zebra family since I was in Pre-K has been a meaningful experience for me! I have met so many incredible peers, teachers, mentors, and life-long best friends during my time at Claremore, and I have made so many amazing memories. Thank you, CPS for always welcoming me with open arms and giving me a second family!
What staff member impacted your life most and how in elementary school? My 3rd-grade teacher, Mrs. Reeves, was the elementary teacher who made the biggest impact on my life! I got extremely sick during my 3rd-grade year, and she was the one who supported me during my darkest time. I have always felt incredibly loved by Mrs. Reeves and will forever remember our time together.
What staff member impacted your life most and how in junior high? The junior high teacher that made the biggest impact on my life was Mrs. Lyons! Mrs. Lyons was my 7th-grade English teacher, and I peer-tutored for her in 8th grade. She was always so upbeat and energetic, and she never failed to make us laugh! I always felt she was deeply committed to her students and invested in our learning.
What staff member impacted your life most and how in high school? Mr. Noland is 100% the teacher who has impacted my high school career the most. He was my AP European History teacher sophomore year, which was during Covid. Not only was Mr. Noland an incredible teacher, but he also had such a charismatic attitude when teaching. He is one of the funniest people I have ever met, and I remember having so much fun in his class. The way in which he taught and connected with his students has always inspired me. Everybody loves Mr. Noland, and we all miss you so much!
What is the ONE thing you absolutely take with you to college? The one thing I will take to college is that hard work pays off!
What activities you have been involved in? AP / Pre-AP Programs, Chemistry Club, Class Officer, Concurrent, National Honor Society, Red Army, Spirit Squad, SADD, Student Council, ZUAC, and Work Experience / Shadow / Internship (Career Development Program).
What was the hardest part (challenges) you had to overcome to achieve this honor? Being a salutatorian has required maximum effort in all of my higher-level classes. I would say that the most challenging part of receiving this honor has been balancing schoolwork with my personal and social life. However, my determination and self-perseverance kept me going!
What are you most proud of in your high school career? I am most proud of my commitment and involvement with CHS Student Council! This organization has transformed me as a leader and given me a second family. I am incredibly proud of all the events and other things we have done for CHS and the community. I have truly discovered a passion that I have for leadership and hope to continue this journey throughout my college and professional life. Thank you so much CHS Stuco!
