What advice you would give your freshman self? I would tell my freshman self that it’s okay to ask for help. Don’t try to do everything on your own.
What has this journey taught you about yourself? My school career has taught me that putting in hard work pays off in every area of life.
🔴 What does this accomplishment mean to you? Being salutatorian is a great honor to me and an achievement I am very proud of. It is a reflection of all the effort I have put in throughout high school.
Looking back on your school experience at CPS what does being a Zebra mean to you? Being a Zebra to me means doing the best you can but still relying on others to help you through it.
What staff member impacted your life most and how in elementary school? Mrs. Crawford at Westside was my music teacher throughout all elementary school. She was always so kind, encouraging, and a light to me. She helped me with the choir and led all our music performances and plays. Overall, she was a wonderful part of my time at Westside.
What staff member impacted your life most and how in junior high? Mrs. Woods at WRJH was my yearbook teacher and she always pushed me to excel. She gave me many responsibilities and expected me to fulfill my duties. Through her class, I learned how to be a part of something much bigger than myself.
What staff member impacted your life most and how in high school? Sami Garroutte has not only been my teacher but a mentor, small group leader, and close friend to me for many years. She’s constantly inspired me and been there for me. I admire every aspect about her.
What is the ONE thing you absolutely take with you to college? I will always remember the memories I made and how I persevered through the tough times.
What activities you have been involved in? Softball manager, Golf, student council secretary, Work Experience / Shadow / Internship (Career Development Program), Young Democrats, World Language Club, Student Council, SADD, Red Army, National Honor Society, Native American Student Asso., FUZE, Concurrent, Christian Club, and AP / Pre-AP Programs.
What was the hardest part (challenges) you had to overcome to achieve this honor? The most difficult part was balancing all of my school work and life priorities at the same time. AP and honors classes are not easy and demand a lot of work so I had to be intentional with my time.
What are you most proud of in your high school career? I most proud of the friends and relationships I have formed along the way. They have helped me grow in all areas.
