Has your child been to the library yet??? What books are their favorites?

Mrs. Beasley's 3rd grade class read the book, My mouth is a Volcano. This is a story about waiting your turn and maintaining self control. After reading the book the students made a journal entry about how they can control themselves before they ERUPT!!

Check out what Mrs. Ward's 1st grade class has been working on.
Our book study this week was Nerdy Birdy! Nerdy Birdy didn’t fit in with the “cool” birds, but eventually found a flock of birds just like him! However, that’s not where the story ends. Vulture comes along. She’s nothing like the nerdy birds. Nerdy Birdy friends her even when the rest of the group won’t try to get to know her. It’s a sweet story about being friends with all types of people and celebrating our differences! We used the story to learn about the setting, vocabulary, sentence structure, writing about friendship, and birds!
During Friday Float students learned about the life cycle of eagles with Mrs. Christian and bird beaks with Mrs. Roller! They even made little bird feeders!

Mrs. Geranen, 3rd grade teacher
I graduated from Claremore High School and then went to college at RSU and NSU.
My favorite thing about teaching is the kids!! Being able to be a positive role model. Seeing them get excited about learning new things. Having someone love and appreciate my jokes.... haha!
I have been teaching for 17 years. 7 years at Claremont and 10 years at Catalayah.
In my free time I enjoy family cookouts, home remodeling projects, watching the kids sports and being outside.
My husband Brandon and I have been married for 3 years. He is a flight test engineer for Lakota Helicopters in the Army National Guard. We have 4 kids. Bradyn is 20 in the Air National Guard, Kaleson is 18 and just graduated from Verdigris High School, Shealyn and Brylee are both 12 and go to Will Rogers Junior High.
If I could be any book character I would be Junie B Jones. She is funny. She is a problem solver. She loves her family and friends with all her heart. She always looks at the bright side of situations.
My favorite quote is- "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."- Nelson Mandela
One thing I want to do that I have never done before is go to Europe. I've traveled all over the United States.....mostly. I'd like to venture further. I'd love to see the sites and eat the foods from the European Countries.
All of my 17 years teaching have been spent in 3rd grade. I absolutely love this age of children. They are independent and fun, and still think teachers are cool.... for the most part!

I have been with my husband Marty for 17 and a half years, married for 6 and a half. We have one daughter, Shawn who will be attending Will Rogers Jr High in August. Marty works for the City of Tulsa in the Credit and Collections department.
If I could be any book character I would love to be Herald-Mage in Mercedes Lackey's Heralds of Valdemar series. They don't generally live long, because their job defending the kingdom puts a huge KILL ME sign on their head, but they have true devotion to their calling.
Favorite quote- Right now you are in the middle of the movie. It's not supposed to make sense in the middle. you have to trust the Director (God) to get you to the credits. It will all make sense in the end.-- My baby sister, Angela Prock
One thing I want to do that I have never done before is go to New England in the fall.
