Ain't No Party Like A CPSF Party!!!
The 2022 Gatsby Brainiac Brawl wouldn't have been a huge success without the hard work of the CPSF Board of Trustees. We are so thankful for this group of volunteers that share their talents and treasures to fulfill the mission of enriching the quality of education in the Claremore Public Schools.

Our kindergarten friends have been preparing for the snow days!! They made these cute snowman pictures and wrote about what they would do if they were a snowman at night!!
They came up with some really cute ideas. Sledding, ice skating, snowball fight and some of our snowmen would even dance all night!
#CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The first snow of the season and we want to know...
⛄ Build a snowman?
❆ Have a snowball fight?
🛷 Sled at the Will Rogers Memorial?
📕 Read a good book?

Here is a sneak peek of what is happening at Catalayah on this Distance Learning Day.
Our wonderful IT Department is here to install Promethean Boards for Kindergarten- 3rd grade classes!!!
A Promethean Board is a whiteboard that connects to a computer, allowing teachers to project and interact with images on its screen.
The teachers are so excited to be able to learn and play with these today so they will be ready when the students return!!

Its Ground Hog Day!!!
If the groundhog spots its shadow when it pokes its nose out of its burrow on Feb. 2, the tradition goes, it’s going to be a long, frigid six weeks. If the animal doesn’t see a shadow, that means an early spring and warmer temperatures will soon start rolling in.
Mrs. Faught's class made their predictions about GroundHog Day! It looks like some of them made great predictions!!!

Mrs. Faught's 2nd grade clas did a mini unit on Friendship💗. They read books about friends and how to be a good friend!📚They have been working on adjectives so it was good practice for them to come up with some to describe “friend”! The kiddos also used their adjectives to “sprinkle” in our classroom with our cupcake art and writing activity!📝🧁I love how creative they are!!🤍

Mrs. Desy's 2nd grade class made the cutest Martin Luther King Jr projects. After their lesson about Martin Luther King Jr and talking about the dream he had for his kids, the class got to talk about their dreams for the future.
It looks like the Frist Woman President will be coming from Catalayah!! We also have a rapper, NFL or NBA player and there were also several student that wanted to save homeless people. These kids have a bright future and I can't wait to watch!

Mrs. Castle's 3rd grade class picked a word they want to live by for 2022!!! They not only picked a word but they explained why they picked that word and even told us steps on how they can achieve it!!
I plan on checking in with them in a month or so and see how they are doing with their words.

1st graders have been learning everything about Penguins!! They have been reading books, coloring pictures and making charts. If you have any questions about Penguins ask them!!

Mrs. Cole's Pre-K class started their dinosaur unit this week. The kids are so excited!! 🦖 🦕
They are making dinosaur eggs and learning about the different types of dinosaurs. Later this week when the eggs dry, the kids will crack them open.

What is your favorite reading spot?!?!? Some kids like to read alone in a quiet spot, some in groups and some even enjoy reading in the dark with a flashlight.
We enjoy seeing the different reading styles and the different ways they enjoy reading.

Mrs. Brewsters 4th grade class was working on vocab when I stopped by their class. Learning vocabulary is a very important part of learning a language. The more words you know, the more you will be able to understand what you hear and read; and the better you will be able to say what you want to when speaking or writing.
Keep up the good work 4th graders!!

Mrs. Douthitt's class practiced writing their sight words in "snow"!!! They really enjoyed using the shaving cream to practice!

Mrs. McQueen is the virtual teacher for Claremore Public Schools. She monitors all her students daily. She can see what they are doing, when they are taking tests and how close they are to each of their goals. She has a google meet set up with every student once a week.

Catalayah Staff had to carefully select a word that helps gain clarity about the things you would like to create in your life and the way in which you want to live.
Here are some of the words our staff picked!!

Mrs. Rollers class read I Love My Hair!
This story teaches kids that they are unique and that being unique is what makes them special. Also, how it's still important to be kind to others even if they are different than us.
We then used a Venn diagram to compare and contrast our own hair to the main characters hairstyle.

Early release for our kids means meeting time for our teachers. This has turned into such a great time for lesson planning, district meetings and time to share ideas with our teacher friends across the district.
Professional learning communities (PLCs) are a collaborative approach to professional development in which small groups of educators meet regularly to explore new concepts, share expertise and insights from their teaching experiences, and engage in collective problem solving.
We are so lucky we have the technology to have meetings with teachers from all over the district from the comfort of our own desk.

Mr. J and his kindergarten class enjoyed singing The Wheels on the Bus. Can you see their wipers going?!?!!

Cowboy Bart and our friends from the Will Rogers Memorial and Museum came by and visited our 3rd graders today. Cowboy Bart told them a little about Will Rogers and his life in Oklahoma. He also did some rope tricks for us.
They also told the 3rd graders about the diorama contest they have coming up. All 3rd grade is encouraged to participate and create a diorama about the life of Will Rogers. It can be about anything you find interesting about Will Rogers.
You can even visit the Museum for ideas. Dioramas are due Monday Jan 31st. They will be on display at the Museum the entire month of February. Anyone can come and vote on their favorite diorama. Feb 27 at 2:00 there will be a talent show and the winners will be announced.
