We have babies!!! Mrs. Wallis is teaching her 2nd grade class about he life cycle of a chicken. They learned that it takes 21 days for the egg to hatch and that the chicks have a special beak at birth called an "egg tooth" to help them break out of their shell. The class not only learned about the life cycle but also about the anatomy of the egg and a hen. They got to witness the egg cracking and the baby chicks being born! They learned about the incubator and the process of hatching the chicks as well as what it takes to care for the chicks after they are born. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

5th graders were learning about how humans impact our environment with our actions. (using fossil fuels, building/using land, types of pollution, wasting water, not recycling, etc.) During a recent distance learning day the students created posters showing one human activity with a negative environmental impact, and how they could reduce that impact with their actions. For example, turning off the water while brushing your teeth instead of leaving it running the whole time. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Our Native American Club took advantage of the nice weather yesterday and went outside to play Game of Graces. Graces is played with two people. Each person gets two dowel rods. Then, one of the players takes a wooden hoop and, pulling apart the two rods, sends the hoop into the air for the other player to try to catch. The winner is the player who is first to catch the hoop ten times. The game of graces was a popular activity for young girls during the early 1800s. The game was invented in France during the first quarter of the 19th century and called le jeu des graces.[1] The game of graces was considered a proper game – one befitting young ladies and, supposedly, one that would make them more graceful. Graces was hardly ever played by Boys, and never played by two boys at the same time; the players were always either two girls, or a boy and a girl. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
