Every day, each student has the opportunity to earn a “Character Counts” certificate. Any adult in the building can give them out when they notice a student showing exceptional character traits. When a student receives the certificate, the teacher recognizes them in the moment, praising them for following the life principles, or character traits, that help us to become better humans. Students place their “Character Counts” in a box, and the following morning during rise and shine, the student’s name is called, they stand, and the entire school gives them two power claps. A random winner is chosen daily and has their photo posted on the wall for everyone to see. The winner also receives a small prize that has been donated by local businesses! Every single Character Counts certificate is displayed on the wall and students love searching for their own.
A fun thing we added last year is the Cafeteria Character Counts and also on the Bus!!

🎉 Meet Our All-Star 5th Grade Leaders! 🎉
Handpicked by their teachers, these VIP role models are more than just students—they’re the ultimate school ambassadors! From greeting everyone with big smiles to helping with morning deliveries and guiding guests, they’re the heartbeat of our school, making every day a little brighter! 🌟👋
Here is what a few of our Leadership Members had to say about their jobs.
Avery- Being in the Leadership group is fun and I get to make people smile when I compliment them.
Bella- I like being in Leadership because it helps boost my social interaction!
Eli- It gives me a chance to be nice to the students and teachers.
Zach- Leadership is fun. Sometimes in the morning we like to make tunnel for the kids to go through on their way into the building. It's fun for them and we like it too.
Connor- I like being able to make people's day better.
These 5th graders are doing such a great job!! We are so proud of them. They rotate their jobs every week so be sure and check back for more pictures!

September Recap!!
#CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Fourth graders in Mr. Elliott's class participated in a hands-on science experiment by creating salt dough fossils. Using a simple mixture of salt, flour, and water, students molded their dough and pressed in various objects like pencils and paper clips to mimic real fossils. This engaging activity helped them understand how fossils form and gave them a fun way to explore the past.
