This Friday Funny comes from the office! A student came in to see the nurse after having a little accident. When he made it to the office the nurse asked him "Did that tree jump out and get you?" The student replied sadly " No!! It just stood still and got me!" He got some ice, love, and made the best of the rest of his day! ❤

Mrs. McClurg's friends are incredibly proud of their morning work! Morning work provides students with standards-based activities for them to practice their skills. It allows them to practice their academic skills in either math, literacy, or both, while they sharpen their fine motor skills by holding a pencil, coloring inside the lines, or tracing. Great work, Mrs. McClurg's class! 🎉

Over the last couple of weeks, Mrs. G has worked with Kindergarten and 1st grade on the beat being the heartbeat of music. This past week they read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and clapped and said rhythms to the words. They wrote their first stick notations into the little hearts on their coloring sheets to show the ‘heartbeat’ of the music and then used their imaginations to color the pictures! We are so proud of their ‘noteworthy’ work! ❤🎶

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Stuart Roosa's Apollo 14 space mission! In honor of this achievement, Claremore Public Schools and Claremore Museum of History are partnering up to celebrate with Roosa Space Day on September 18th! T-shirt order forms were sent out and they are due this FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD!

Here at Westside Elementary, we enjoy celebrating our students. One of our favorite ways to let students know we see them doing the right thing is to award them with character recognitions. Teachers see something they love from a student, they write it down, and then that student and their recognition is displayed proudly on our Hero Wall!
The Hero Wall has become popular with our students, so we have decided to share it with you. Look at all these students we have to brag about on our first Westside Hero Wednesday! Not all heroes wear capes; some wear backpacks! 😉😋

Things are heating up over in Mrs. T's Pre-K classroom! These students are working hard in small groups during center time. Center work for these friends included shape matching, counting 1-10, ABC matching, magnet play, Lego train, and bristle blocks. Students also used colored pencils to decorate their names. They were so proud of being able to recognize their name or some of the letters!
