Westside students are collecting items to make Freedom Boxes for our military service members. Listed below are the items each grade level is collecting. Please help us support the individuals who serve and protect our country. The last day to bring items will be Wednesday, October 18th. Thank you!

It's National Custodian Appreciation Day! We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our custodial staff for the extraordinary job they do in taking care of our building. Our custodians play an integral role in making sure the school operates smoothly. Mrs. Summer and Mrs. Michelle are a huge part of the Westside Family. They are often the first faces seen in the morning and some of the last as students leave for the day. Thank you so much for all you do! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

These incredible 5th grade students cashed in their Zebra bucks (behavior incentives) to read to a younger class. Mrs. Campbell's 3rd grade students loved having these visitors at the end of the day! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The Claremore Indian Education Committee(IEC) will have a special meeting on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 6-6:30 p.m. at the Enrollment Center at 101 West 11th. The meeting will be held to hold the JOM Annual Election. To serve on the JOM IEC, a person must be the parent or guardian of a JOM-verified child. School board members or spouses, school administrators or spouses, and school employees or spouses can not serve on the committee. Any parent, community member, or other interested may attend the meeting. Westside Elementary is excited to announce that our annual fall fundraiser starts today! Information regarding the fundraiser was sent home with students this afternoon. Students who register online at www.ShopFund.com and share their fundraiser will automatically receive a prize just for doing so. Also, sell two items tonight and win DOUBLE DAWGZ. More prize information will be shared during Rise and Shine throughout the week. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year! We thank you for your support! It's a great day to be a ZEBRA!

Arrrgh it was a great week in Mrs. Sweet's 2nd grade class. Monday was International Talk Like a Pirate Day! The students learned pirate phrases and worked their way through 10 reading and math challenges on a treasure map. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

It is that time of year for youth wrestling sign ups!! Please come join Claremore Youth Wrestling Club!! We truly have some of the best coaches and parents that a club could ask for!! Mr. McClurg has been teaching Westside students all about primary and secondary colors. The work created by these artists is starting to look like a book illustration! We love seeing what these artists bring to life. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Learning is fun, especially in pre-k where there are so many new things to discover. Our wonderful Westie, Liam, was excited to show Mrs. Whitaker the Letter D he found on the playground! This is the letter their class had been working on. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Westside is so grateful to have an incredible IT crew! Mrs. James and Mrs. Sinni work continuously to assist students and staff with their technology and keep our building learning. Thank you to these incredible ladies for the ongoing support! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

The excitement of the upcoming Homecoming celebrations is building! Join us next week as we dress up to celebrate our Zebras!

When learning nursery rhymes, Mrs. Classen's class checks to see how many blocks it takes for Humpty Dumpty (a boiled egg) to have a great fall. They added to the excitement with the Itsy Bitsy Spider by making spider cookies. What a fun reading activity! #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Sanders' 1st grade class has made fantastic growth in identifying numbers quickly with dice, dominoes, tallies, and fingers! These mathematicians are starting their school year off strong. #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

Mrs. Campbell's 3rd grade class had the opportunity to take some peaceful reading time with flashlights. These Westies love including this discovery time in their day!🔦 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE

This amazing 4th grade student paid Zebra Bucks (our positive behavior incentive) to participate in show and tell. Mrs. Armstrong was courteous enough to bring and share about their precious new puppy! Nothing like a fluffy pup to brighten a school day!🐶 #CPSZEBRAPRIDE
